Strange Choices in Item Design Episode 19: Chronoscope Runes

In case you haven't run The Chronoscope in a while, it now drops Chronoscope Runes. Not very many of them, just 45 on EE.

It still takes 1250 runes to get an item. So, what wonderful bounties await the player who completes 28 runs of The Chronoscope? (12 weeks running once every 3 days).

The ML5 versions of the loot.

That's right. The shit you can get running it on Heroic or on every 3rd completion, or is just in general very easy to get. That's what's on the trade-ins.

Oh, and for extra fun? It cost Threads of Fate to upgrade Chronoscope items to Legendary, but The Chronoscope does not drop threads of fate. Way to go, SSG.

I was more annoyed you can't turn the runes in for the Chrono mats to at least lessen the farm for upgrading gear.

Given the drop rate of the runes vs drop rate of the item you will DEFINITELY have a fully-upgraded item long before you get 1250 runes. On EE without opts you average about 30 mats and base items appear in end reward and many chests. That means you can get an Epic version in 4 runs a Legendary in 7(assuming you also run enough other raids in the meantime). That's faster than you can guarantee an item from any other raid(and even soloing you'd be hard-pressed to go 7 runs of EE and not get the base item you wanted).

So yeah. I haven't a god damn clue what SSG thinks these runes are for.

No. You can trade old shard/seal/scroll for MATTS but not runes. Runes, as covered previously, do only slightly better than shit.

Adventure pack specific mats replaced the shard/seal/scroll mechanic, and you can trade the old s/s/s for the new mats. In most cases you need 200 mats to go from base item to Legendary version. In the case of everything that comes out of the chronoscope you also need 250 threads of fate.

Might also be the case for Sands items, dunno. Never ran it because of the shitty flagging mechanics.

You still have to meander through an overly complicated and maze-like wilderness to get to the quest entrances. I mainly couldn't stand Sands because of Desert Caravan(hate any quest that involves protecting NPCs), which is why I never did it on heroic lives. However it does appear the raid flagging doesn't suck, so I think I am going to start farming it for fun.

The Vault of Kundarak guys released something called AwesomeAF which I think means Awesome Auto-Follower.

I think it makes it easier for you to have several boxes going where toons on each account follow your toon around.
