https://www.ddo.com/news/ddo-producer-letter-feb-2025And here's the actual letter (my thoughts in red)
Quote:New Worlds:
In a previous Producer's Letter I mentioned that our team has been undertaking efforts to improve game performance. The 64-bit Cormyr server was a huge part of that as it allowed us to best optimize how our game runs. Yup, it's so well optimized that it dies once a week together with another random server (Argonessen has a +50% modifier chance to be in the list). All of them if it's a bonus week!!
Thanks to the hard work of our team as well as the important feedback we've heard from you, we are happy to report that we have made substantial improvement to game performance! I'll write more about our work to combat lag in a developer diary in the future, but for now I can say we are confident in our results and we will be rolling out an important change to all of Dungeons & Dragons Online this year. No way, you're going to announce beta version?? Is Jerry going on a diet? We will have 3 days of decent gameplay before everything plunges in an even stinkier shit than it was before just like all the previous times?
We will be introducing new 64-bit game servers to all of DDO, including the addition of new servers based in Europe. As we get closer, we will announce more specifics about how these upgrades will happen, but we want the good performance people are seeing on Cormyr to be possible for all DDO characters. We will offer free transfers to our new 64-bit worlds from our 32-bit game worlds when we open these new servers, and we will have full details about the transfer process when we get closer to these servers opening.I have lots of bad feelings for this one, both from the incompetence of ssg but, MOSTLY, from player base...I'll elaborate when it's time.
Our community has been crucial to making this a reality, and we look forward to sharing more information as we get closer to the launch of this project.
The year holds other updates and fun besides performance improvements. We will be creating new dungeons this Spring that will progressively unlock and we’ll have more information about it as we get closer. We will announce our next batch of rewards for the VIP Loyalty Reward Program that will be added to the current list. This next wave of rewards includes bonuses that stack with the prior year's bonuses in addition to more VIP cosmetics. Yaaaaaaaaaaaawn...No, don't mind me. This is the face I make when I don't give a fuck, carry on....oh no wait...done already?
And then we have a cute little pic explaining us the actual planned content. Tolero could had just avoided typing anything and simply posted the image. It explains way more using way less. Here we go
Q1:
Cormyr performance improvements
19th Anniversary Celebration
Dragon disciple archetype
Monk rework
New raid
Q2:
New 64-bit worlds
New dungeon content
VIP rewards year 2 (electric boogaloo)
PAX east community event (yes, this is content...can't wait to see another series of overweight people in their 40/50 showing up in pajamas not even caring about shaving or looking presentable)
Q3:
Lamordia Expansion (pretty much the only actual content we'll be seeing this year)
Return to Ravenloft
New Dhampir race
New landscape
And more (this is what scares me...another rebalance based on glue sniffing and an overpriced expansion to get a new racial ap tome plus a fucking mount and useless hireling. Oh, let's not forget the COSMETICS)
Q4:
Live event (by the fucking void no, please...)
Opt-in Hardocre-like (??? Was it mandatory at any point in time?)
Fey shenanigans (not to be confused with general SSG incompetence, that comes free of charge of course)
And more (yeah ok, keep shoveling I guess)
So, new expansion late summer/early autumn and dhampir race. It's like Tolero couldn't even be bothered to write something this year
