True, neg repping without cause is a problem but let me illustrate a fact.

In high school (nearly 10 years ago), there was a kid in one of my AP classes that said the word watermelon like wurtermelun, and basically garnered the distaste of everyone in class for no reason.  One day a substitute teacher came to said class and she knew me personally (had her previous times and was upstanding student).  WELL, in this particular class the student didn't necessarily do anything, but we acted like he would keep talking and disrupting our work leading to his punishment.

Essentially, someone could make a NEARLY innocuous post in forum, one or more people could jump on its invalidity (which I know we are all masters at except a few of the more softer spoken members here).  When people with lots of green boxes say negative things about a post, a movement starts against the OP.   When this happens, the negative rep would not be unwarranted.

It was just an idea based off of some suggestions I've seen thrown around here.

By the way I've been repping everyone in that thread everyone was posting in ambiguously about "another forum" and "strakeln's sig."
