Epic Scroll - Interactive Distribution Mechanics

Hi Welcome

I understand they are trying to create a better system, but what has been suggested is equivalent to shooting a nuclear warhead at at a plane experiencing complete engine failure.

Why not create some sort of auto-collection system:

1) A killed epic mob drops a scroll
2) A party-wide (similar to world/server wide) notice is given
"The Scroll of the Epic Staff of Inner Sight has dropped."
3) The scrolls are kept out of the party's inventory
4) When the quest completes or every party member is dead, a screen pops up that allows people to roll on the scrolls they have interest in.
5) Players select rules for the roll..
ie: d100, a 1 automatically wins, otherwise closest to 100 wins.
6) The window must be allowed to be brought up again if accidentally closed.
7) The winners of each roll then have the appropriate scroll deposited into their inventory, regardless of them being dead or alive.

I can see this being a little tough to implement for dead party members, OR the learning curve of NOT recalling out immediately after quest completion...JUST like everything else in this game, once it becomes standardized it becomes second nature. I could see some type of tutorial maybe? (idk about the tutorial /lame?)

Thoughts?

I like this idea better, seems much simpler. Still requires some integrity, but so does the current situation.

I like the idea of this, but my crappy play wants me to /notsign.

I recently picked up a scroll in Epic Wiz King, but my group wasn't able to win the end fight, so we didn't get the end chest.  I kind of like the idea of getting scrolls even if you don't completely finish the quest.

Well, he didn't say end chests.

problem I have with the new system is basically it gets rid of ninja looting by having the game automatically choose the ninja.

Seems more that it simply automates the "Roll d# for Scroll of Epic Whatever" thing that groups already regularly do, which in my opinion is a good way to fix the ninja problem while keeping the system used by fair groups intact(this part done by telling the party which player won the roll and got the scroll).

The only thing that would be different is the game rolls for everyone so players who might not have rolled before get a roll on it, but if those guys don't want the scroll they can put it for another roll since they're not bound...or sell it if they're for whatever reason short on plat(or raising money to fund lowbie alts). And if they do want the scroll, well, the server already determined they won the roll so they can choose to keep it just like any raid item in a chest.

Actually, that's part of the problem... it doesn't necessarily show character traits.

Now, if a message popped up that said "MILTON PICKED UP A SCROLL OF SOS" then you'd be right...

Ahh... I get it now. People actually spamming their target and use buttons after each kill? Lol, that's extreme jerkiness.

*** has received the scroll of the sword of shadows...

if *** wants to be a d-bag and not allow the party to roll on it...then *** will never EVER run with me again... and ***'s integrity will quickly spread...

im looking forward to the new system since i have had to actually be standing on a scroll in some cases to see it...so they can be ninja'ed way too easily atm.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

You just rolled on it automatically and lost. He won. If he doesn't need it, then he can let those that want it re-roll on it. First roll is just done automatically now, its the only difference.

Agreed with Kenny.  It's been rolled on, he won.

Unlike bound items, scrolls are an asset unto themselves, as they can be traded, sold or given to guildies.

Need before Greed generally applies to bound things, not unbound things.  Go run desert and see a wizard pull a bloodstone - think he is gonna put it up for roll?  Even if he has no melee toons?  Hell no, its a valuable asset, which he can sell or trade.

If a scroll drops (currently, before this change) then everyone should roll on it, not just people who "need" it for an item.  That's because its a universally valuable asset.  If its a guild group, sure, abdicate your roll, that's fine.  But in a pug, I expect 100% of the group to roll on a scroll.

The new mechanic is fantastic.  It completely eliminates the 2 major issues currently on live: 1) missing the scroll entirely or unable to get to it 2) stopping in the middle of the quest and doing a roll-off.

If you are with guildies and you get a scroll you have no need for and someone else does, you are just as free to fork it over to them as if it dropped on the ground and you decided not to roll.
