And when you TR from Paladin to your next class, don't forget the bonus step that makes your next life a little smoother.

Cast Holy Sword to summon a Greatsword and a Maul immediately before you TR and spend less than 1/2 hour in the character generation process so that your Holy Sword weapons are still in your TR bank for you to grab on the first session of your new life.

You won't get to keep them for more than 1 session, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to swing a +5 Holy Burst Almost-Metalline weapon at level 1.

I thought one of the big Bonuses to DDO was the ability to be different?

Because most folks do not realize that gear and equipment and build is only 2/3 of the ddo equation...and are not able to deduce the two factors that togrther make up the last third....kina ahora.

Due to the fact that Paladin dps is heavily reliant on crits the khopesh only out performs rapier by about 3-5% assuming you hit on a five or more, however khopesh performance drops drasticly the worse your to-hit. Either rapier or khopesh is a good choice for paladin, and the dps difference is minimal. Whoever says khopesh is the best weapon for a paladin is correct however the difference is so marginal it really doesn't matter. Pick whichever you prefer.

Hi all!  Brand new to the Vault here!

When I TR'd my drow ranger6/rog2/pal12 into a pal18/mon2 I looked hard at the math for the khopesh/rapier debate and came up with these same numbers.  Already having the rapiers, it just didn't make sense for me to re-craft my rapiers into khopesh.  Plus running all of those Shrouds to get the large scales would probably make me stab my eyes out with a fork and eat them raw.  I'd say keep your rapiers if you're just going to TR again and you'll still be very good DPS.

Ever consider rolling up a Halfling Pali-rogue? I hear they are all the rage now. Be the envy of all your D&D friends! Women will want you, men will want to be you, and the world of Eberron will be your oyster.

Just thought I would throw that out there for consideration Grin

*EDITE* I am not great on extreme Char planning, but have you considered taking the Defender of Syberys (sp) line instead of Hunter of the Dead if you are going at least 18 Pali and going DPS? The 3d level stand skill (DR 20/Epic) I think?, and STR, CON and AC stance boosts you get are excellent for boss fights.

Actually, the second Inkblack (rerolled, prior to TR being introduced) was a halfling rogue.  Was extremely fun to play, except in pugs.  Even with all the subtlety I could find, I'd still pull aggro off of all the vorpal clones that were fashionable at the time.

Hence part of the reason the Flintheart went to the person who plays the name now. My Flintheart build would do the same and go SPLAT shortly there after since no one could grab aggro back from him. So when my friend joined DDO I had no problem giving him his name.

Just posted a dps pali build on other forum in pali section. Thats what il be runnin after groans next monk life. Half Orc base blends 2wf and 2 handed style so u got the best set up for lower ac and high epic ac. Let me knw if u wan me to repost it here. From a dps standpoint IMO it's ur best option.

I've liked Drow for Paladin GTWF since Drow were released. Personally, my preference had been for a 2 splash of Rogue, but with Nellas' third life, I'm looking at 18 Paladin/2 Monk (for the Feats). I'm going Defender with a huge Intimidate. She has four +3 Tomes in the bank for when I finally get her to cap as a Barbarian.

Did you read his post?  Your Horc is a khopesh paly, Ink already said he's got GS rapiers made, so drow or elf make much more sense, with drow getting the upper hand due to the boost in charisma, or am I missing something.... T

No it's pretty nice actually. Here it is:

In addition to the damage, I like the fact that a capped pure paladin can turn Chaosblades or the Sword of Shadow into a demon/devil boss beater as well.  Smiley

(Edit: even without that 100 hour "ruin" augment)

Paladin Capstone is relatively strong, but I don't think it's as strong as Evasion + two Feats.

Here's my plan for Nellas' next life:

Depends on what content you are running.  For a large majority of players, the Reflex score that you will end up with at cap will allow you to evade everything up through at least the Shroud.  You can already survive everything up through the Shroud just fine without evasion, though.

Without some kind of crazy high Reflex save, though, you won't be making those saves often on Epic quests.  I honestly don't know what the DC is on Lailat's epic blades, but it's higher than most players would consider possible for a Monk (or Rogue) splashed Paladin.

There certainly is content that sits between the Shroud and Epic and the effectiveness of Evasion is going to differ from person to person.  That said, I was damned near unkillable on my Rogue splashed Paladin... until I got to Epic.  Then I wondered what the hell happened and why am I dying so often?  It's because my Evasion didn't work in Epic and I needed to learn how to survive without it.

(I'll note that if you search my posting history in the other forum, you'll find a different opinion attached to my name over there.  I've changed my mind since then.)

"Crazy high Saves" is one of the points of the build. Even on Nellas as a Ranger, I was running a 44 Reflex Save in the Tower and her Saves will be considerably higher with the gear I intend (though that will admittedly be difficult).

If you can actually get those numbers, then Evasion makes a lot of sense.  If you're like most of the monkeys that TR as soon as they hit 20, though, then taking Evasion on your followup life without a real plan on how to get your Reflex save up to a level that most people would consider absurd is going to take away the capstone without giving any significant benefit in return.

I'm actually glad that I took the 2 Rogue levels as a splash on my caster since that gave me a lot of extra breathing room while I was leveling him and making all kinds of stupid mistakes in quests.  Now I'm ready to take off the training wheels, so I'll be TRing into a pure Wizard that will have a lot harder time staying alive in regular content, but which should also be a hell of a lot more effective as long as I can manage to not fall over dead.

I think that most people who have Evasion on their character are using it as training wheels in a similar way.  The character that you have listed is an entirely different beast.  You don't have training wheels because you're afraid of getting a boo-boo.  You have a shark cage because you want to jump in the water with a bucket of chum in your lap.  Smiley
