Which is just a stupid fucking policy. Yes I understand the need for quite enforcement in some cases but if you let people talk about what happened and display why you took the actions you did you can establish a clear line or code for the users to follow. With the lack of transparency in their enforcement they seem to be policing the forum according to their own whims. The only "beneficial" thing about forbidding the lack of discussion about modding policies is that you dont have to set precedents and that allows you to enforce however you want.

Transparency would lead to clarity. What they want is more like ...
fear and ignorance. Ignorance and fear.

As a gesture of goodwill, somebody from Turbine should make my huge collectible bag BtA. Why did you take advantage of me?

In a similar gesture, I have awarded all Turbine employees 1500 Vault points that can be used in the Vault store.

1500 points seems excessively high.  Did you stop to realize how many drama threads the rest of us have to create and successfully get Toppies in to earn that many points?  At 25 Vault Points/Toppie, it's a lot of grind and frankly a slap in the face to us casual folk who haven't been here since the start.  This is the last straw - I'm cancelling my Vault sub and going Free-2-Post from now on.  Angry

With the addition of Dispel, Anon and a couple of other members, we are currently giving out "Watch me Post Like a Dumbass - Supreme Tomes" for 1 tp, and we give you another 20 tp as a bonus. It is the gift that keeps on giving.

for the record Anon. is from Argo and has an axe to grind with AoK or possibly (but not likely) a member of AoK

So what exactly do the Turbine folks bring the the Vault? I haven't ever seen them post. Do they simply PM people here? Lurk to see what the mood of the malcontents is? I'm genuinely curious.

If they want to be a part of the Vault community, shouldn't they.. oh I dunno.. try to contribute something?

We have tons of people that lurk, not just them.

When Turbine's system went tits up for an entire day, Jerry did come here and post about the status. I also know that people may occasionally send a pm or two to different Turbine folks that frequent the forums. I think getting answered would depend on a lot of things, such as topic, how you word your question, etc.

If you do pm one be prepared for "I can't talk about that", "Thanks, I will look into that", "That is covered by our NDA policy", or no response at all.

I agree with you on that but also if we force them to post then we have to set the rule on everyone which I dont agree with. I think Tarrent has had the most open relationship with the Vault as he addressed us via pm's that Strak posted several times. I will not say it was a good relationship but at least he was not afraid to admit he was here.

I will point out that yelling at them, calling them names, or just being rude guarantees they won't respond to you. I have been pretty frustrated with Jerry a time or two, because I see him as our best shot of having an advocate inside of Turbine, since he was so active in the player community before. I get a lot further in a conversation with him when I remember not to call him an asshat.

special circmstances for special guests, they should communicate if they are here for positive (to us non employee of turbine members) reasons. Complete silence is passive aggressive... no one is expecting 500 posts in under 40 days, only a drama queen with patches of down time at work could do something like that!

Mockduck has posted, and a couple of others have posted and you just don't know it. I am not blowing their cover though. I have the same duty to protect their info, as I do yours.

As far as them posting a lot, I guess in some ways that is up to us. I wouldn't expect them to tread into a hostile environment and just start saying hello. Remember, these folks, most of them anyway, are pretty low on the Turbine food chain. They have little real control over things, and could (I am guessing) put their job in jeopardy in many ways. Just keep that in mind when trying to interact. You are asking them to tread into a place where most conversations end in GFY.

Only a moron would straight up tell them to GFY. I despise lurking for tattle tale reasons, thats what gets people pissed off at any Turbine employees. Them asking for input/interaction is rarely met with hostility from what I have seen. Its secrecy (and I dont mean leaking secrets more like feeding BS to cover ones ass) MAd Floyd, CoDog and others like them seemed to beable to handle some open communication. Expecting the business plan, including plans for content releases etc is unrealistic. All I would ask for is a simple Acknowledgement of "Here I am, I am not a Hostile" If they lurk around after that and lay low its fine. Its the Policing of these forums to police Official forums or the game itsself that I dont want to see. And if that isnt possible they should chose not to participate, and if they cant chose for themselves, someone should chose for them... and that could lead for restrictions to others in their position.

Also if they are posting and interacting and dont want to out themselves I personally have no problem with that, I think those people get it already

We may have to throw around some ideas about that. It frustrates me that they use stuff here to police stuff there.  They are also human and if they see something they pretty much have to act on it. I would in the same position. So how do we deal with that here without disrupting the forums to much and allowing everyone to participate, and not putting a big burden on Strakeln?

We don't, because that's impossible.
Either they will be allowed to use this site or they will not.  Personally, I agreed fully with the post that Ink made on the subject, and I'm glad you decided to reinstate them.
The bottom line is this: If there's something that you don't want them to see, or trace back to you, then there are places and ways to make sure that it doesn't get traced back to you.
In all other situations, what's the problem?
