If they're doing this, they need to hurry up and put torcs, shintao and encrusted rings in there too. Tired of looking for those.

This one is going to get f-ugly.  Some good old fashion, offal wall rage.

I do not like how this is going with the DDO store.

Anti-beholder crystals were the start; now its rare raid loot they are introducing and seeing how well it sells.

I can guarantee if it goes well; you will see ToD loot, DT runes/armor, and everything else rare/grindy added eventually.

Bad, bad idea. Going to piss off a lot of long term players the grinded the shit out of content to get their tomes.

It seems to be more and more about high value, short term income then long term sustainability and consistant income with Turbine the last year; and that really worries me.

Perhaps they are not planning on renewing the contract after all? And just milking the shit out of DDO before they let it go/sell it.

Yeah, not liking this at all.  Luckily SW: TOR 12/20.  So, if the fucking continues there is an escape.

Fuck Turbine.

The only MMO that isn't a boring-as-shit WoW-clone and it's gotta be ruined by this Farmville-style Pay2Win crap.

No way in hell I'm resubbing after U12 if this goes through.  They already shot my trust in them with Artificers.  Now it looks like they simply don't care about the game anymore.  Get as much cash out of it as quickly as possible.

I always wondered if they had ACTUAL native German and French speakers to translate or it they just plugged into google translate, hit the button and copy pasta'd the results without checking. I guess it's the latter of the two.

Be ready to take some hits if your posting anything negative about this in the offical forum topic. The Turbine deep-throating sperm-burper fanboi club is already active and neg repping to defend their loves virtue from any type of negative comments or suggestions that anything Turbine implements is in any way less then perfect.

Even if you have the stuff translated by a native speaker: Unless you have the same guy doing all the stuff, or have at least some mechanism which creates consistency, you will also have deviating texts.

You can see that in the german translations of the 101 guides. The active/passive/toggle part is (almost) the same in the english ones, but the german ones are phrased differently. Mainly not in a wrong way, but there are differences.

@Eladiun: yup. 12/20. Fo sheez.

@Alekz: agree. I think DDO might be on the downslope. I of course have no credible evidence to back that up but I could be right.

Also, what are you planning on playing in TOR? I'm thinking Human Smuggler.

Btw, I say this bc I know I will eventually break down and buy loot after 3-6 months of farming to no avail.

Also, we all KNOW Turbine would NEVER alter the drop rates to boost their sales....

I've already taken several punches to the Greenis, but I figure that's why I built it up in the first place - so that I would have room to take a few hits without losing my full bar.

I can't get Sisster to commit to Jedi or Sith.  I can't even thing about classes yet or I'll geeksplode.

Jedi is the only way to go. If your Sith and you kill a Jedi; your evil and dispicable. If your Jedi and you slowly eviscerate a Sith with your lightsaber and end by showing him his still-beating heart after you pull it out; well your just defending all that is good and just, and are to be commended for your effort  Grin

How can being a Jedi not be the way to go?

I posted in there, but I'll repeat it here.

I could give a fuck about selling +3 tomes.  The diff in the power creep is negligible.

My issue is with the amount of end game content there is to run.  This move invalidates totally 2 raids.  Hound and VoD.  And is a decent kick in the nuts to Reaver and Shroud.  Anyone who's been grinding Shroud for 3+ years only does it to make plat and get +3 tomes.  Same with Reaver, Hound, and VoD.  You've pillaged the loot tables already.

So, your end game raid list now looks like this:

ToD
MA
LoB
eChrono
eVon
eDQ

I hope they follow this up by adding +4 tomes to the Shroud, VoD, and Hound chests or reward lists for Elite runs or offer an epic version of the raids with revised gear and +4 or +5 drops.

We need MORE end game content that is worthwhile to run.  NOT LESS.  Dipshits.

Sigh.

MODIFICATION:  Making the raid loot in those raids BtA and the +3 tomes un-bound would also be a help, although a small one.  BtC loot increases grind (and thus the life cycle of a raid) but makes it more complex to build parties.

Who is going to buy this? The clueless newbie (same ones who buy +1 weapons, +1 tomes, and drow from the store), and the addicted veteran, that is who. The former is going to be happier about this than they are buying the many other items that are basically a scam, and the latter is going to complain bitterly about pay2win, because they have to justify the time spent grinding in some manner.

Turbine could put epic ingredients in the store, and most of the userbase wouldn't care or ever buy one, although a minority would complain bitterly on the forums as well.

I dislike more sliding down the slippery slope with the store, but so far it doesn't seem to have affected gameplay (please correct me if I'm dramatically wrong on this). When quest difficulty changes to require the purchase of store-only items, or when drop rates go into the sewer to drive store purchases, that is a different story. If it only affects "end-game" though, I'll likely keep playing, because I enjoy leveling up through a variety of different quests, not grinding the same handful over and over and over. I rarely play my capped characters, and even my level 17-18 have tended to gather dust once I flag for Shroud and begin Amrath.

I will readily admit that I would probably buy a Torc or two if they were available in the store for under $10. I utterly despise that raid more than any quest I've completed in the game. Never having to run that raid again would be worth the price of a few beers for me.

Note to any Turbine staffers reading this, and one I genuinely hope you share around the office: DDO has become a shit game because y'all have made it a shit game. Once it was great. Now, it's a festering puddle of monkey diarrhea. No matter how you try to justify it, or pat yourselves on the back for doing great jobs... it's a shit game now because of you. Y'all keep on giving the players the middle finger, and you keep expecting us to reward you for the abuse. I've had it with you narcissistic fuckwads and your myopic policies of ineptitude.
