Really dumb question, but hey, nobodies asked yet to rule it out: You check the cables for thin spots? Could be indicative of a tear.

Next order of crossing out the simpleshit would be, when it does go out, doublecheck the modem and the system leds to make sure you're flashing in the first place. If one side is, and one side aint, it's the side that aint (typically).

Check the modem status with the LEDs, then the router, then the lights on the Ethernet cable (green and orange where you plus the cable) and then your computer.
