	After healing some AC tanks and some... meatsacks in TOD i've decided to create an AC tank myself. Since i've only played a Rogue and a FvS to cap so far i could use some pointers on how to reach useful AC. The plan is to spec for bastard swords and go 2WF when AC tanking isn't required. I'll also take all 3 sentinel dragonmarks to put the epic chimeras fang to full use. My gear at cap would look like Head: Epic chimeras crown/minos? if barkskinned Necklace: Defender Armor: DT with 3 dodge/healing amp or threat Gloves: epic charged gaunts/gloves of the claw Bracers: Tharaak/bracers of the claw? if barkskinned Boots: something with striding? Rings: Defender/char tod ring? Cloak: resistance/envenomed Belt: GS hp min II Shield: Leviks/crafted mithral tower Trinket: sustaining symbiont/bloodstone Is the description of the defender enhancements correct, does the additional threat only apply to S&B damage? There is also an increase of the max dex bonus mentioned, but no numbers. Anyone got any info on that? Armor breakdown so far: 10 base 7? dex - defender may increase this 15 armor DT 9 shield Levik 5 deflection - DM shield of faith 3 dodge DT 2 dodge bracers 1 dodge feat 3 enhancement defender 5 natural - chimeras crown/barkskin 2 alchemical ritual on shield + armor 4 sup parrying - chimeras fang 2 defender set Putting me to a measly 68 AC without guild buffs. Any help to increase my AC any further would be appreciated. Btw, did not get any bta festival stuff beside the T1 cavalry plate for a build like this.

	My current setup (on a Half-elf 20 fighter sd): Head: Cove hat with +15 intimidate and +5 nat armor (replace with epic chimera's crown once I get that damn shard). Trinket: Greater Nimble Trinket (+1 dodge, blurry, +1 attack) Neck: Stalwart Necklace Cloak: Epic Cloak of Night (+2 dodge mostly) Bracers: Levik's Bracers (currently redundant, will replace with +3 dodge bracers from the U12 challenges, or Tharaak bracers) Gloves: Fabricator's for the 10% alacrity currently. Boots: Propulsion boots (ff + 30% strider + that fvs wing thingy) Belt: Heavy fort belt (replace with Min2 hp belt) Rings: Cinder's Band w 20% heal amp + T3 Epic Buccaneers Ring. Armor: T3 Epic Cavalry Plate w Greater Nimbleness slotted Shield: T3 Epic Swashbuckler w +7 slotted OR +5 Mobile Mithral Towershield of Superior Stability (+9 shield, +2 max dex from mobile once u12 hits, +6 Deflection) Weapons: Lit2 bastardsword w +4 insight armor bonus. This gets me to AC 73 without shipbuffs. 76 with shipbuffs. +3 Dodge (chattering ring or u12 bracers) will get that to 79. +3 profane from 3 piece abishai (provided I can fit everything in) will get that to 82 AC with just ship buffs. The mentioned tower shield would bump that another one or two, alternative would be take mobility as a feat and use levik's defender. My current HP total in stance is 650, that will go higher when I manage to fill up the gear (+45 hp shroud item, +20 toughness, +20 epic chimera's crown, +10 argo favor, +20% on top for somewhere around 800 hp in stance)

The last time someone at turbine looked at things, they were getting more threat than they were supposed to. The intimidate threat bonus works for any type of weapon, but it lasts longer on s/b. When grabbing aggro in ToD part 3, I've been in s/b mode for my first intimidate, then immediately switching to thf mode for my initial beatdown. Then I'll swap back to s/b the rest of the time. I haven't had any issues holding aggro so far. Armor breakdown so far: 10 base 7? dex - defender may increase this 15 armor DT 9� shield Levik 5� deflection - DM shield of faith 3� dodge DT 2� dodge bracers 1� dodge feat 3� enhancement defender 5� natural - chimeras crown/barkskin 2� alchemical ritual on shield + armor 4� sup parrying - chimeras fang 2� defender set Putting me to a measly 68 AC without guild buffs. For gear layout, you may want to try and fit in the 3 piece abashai set for it. The extra str and the +3 stackable ac bonus has some nice synergies. I'm still grinding out a few more shrouds on my defender so I can get another cleansing stone to remake my hp item before I can wear my abashai set tho, so my current gear layout is subject to change. My current layout is... helm sfl/+15 intimidate pirate hat trinket epic gem of many facets necklace defender cloak epic dragon cloak belt heavy fort, for lack of anything better rings fighter defender ring/some random +9 str ring glove epic claw gloves bracers +2 dodge/toughness armor epic vambraces of inner light (slotted +7) For the future, I'm looking at making a new shroud hp item (min II belt), and fitting 3 piece abashai set into helm, cloak, and boots. I've got the circle of hatred from the abbot raid already, so that will be my intimidate item and it should add some incite after the next mod. I'll be wearing the epic cavalry plate slotted with greater nimbleness. For shields, I decided that since there aren't any epic tower shields right now, I'm better off using epic kundarak warding shield so I don't have to worry about the dex limitations from that at all. For quests where ac doesn't really matter (epic lob for example) I'm using the levik's defender shield for the extra static dr from the defender line.

	Now with the changes to mobility (+2 max dex bonus armor/shields), switching back to the leviks defender is a solid option. I'm also going to be reaching for the new epic challenge bracers for ac. I'm going to end up only gaining one point of ac from them due to missing out on +2 dodge from that slot, but it's worth it to get the blurry effect and the colorless slot in my bracers. Epic Bracers of Wind Bracers Tier 1: Superior Electric Lore Blurry Air Guard Dodge +3 50%/level 9 Magnetism Tier 2: Add 60%/level 6 Magnetism Add Inherent Electric Resist 10 Tier 3: Add Colorless Augment Slot

	I've got a setup like this...like him a lot. (Sometime of Thelanis...) Finally got Levik's...and yea, I think threat's still a bit broken in the player's favor.� In a pug LoB I held agro by shield bashing between his swats at me.� I tried this in a guild run and blew up the melee's inside a single lag spike. GS HP on goggles Chimera's Crown Epic Grim's Bracelet Epic Brawn's Spirits Epic Envenomed Cloak Morah's Belt (I'll replace this with...SOMEthing useful) Band of Siberys (also replaceable) Fabricator's Gauntlets (something else could go here, like Claw if I can ever get the shard) 30% striders (will replace when I get the quiver and token) Cinder's Band (replaceable now that I'm wearing Grim's) Levik's Shield (swappable with CC shield when "dps'ing".� Still debating weather or not it'll be worth using the Alchemical shield with the +2 con and other goodies and lose the extra DR from Levik's) Levik's Bracers (swappable with Fabricators which has a fun proc and Thaarak until I restock on epic tokens enough to get toughness elsewhere) Epic Cavalry Plate Epic Chimera's Fang w/out toughness, but with boat buffs I sit at 949hp.� I also need to LR a fighter feat off him for another toughness...when all is said and done, I ought to have ~990hp...in stance. 32 18 42 15 11 20 I went 18/2 Ftr/Pal...ditched the Fighter cap for extra saves.� I have no problem holding agro...ever...so far...Also...since I got the 2 pally lvls, I can swing on LoB constantly and not drop below 800hp...I'm thinking it's a function of the improved saves, but haven't taken as close a look at it as I should. AC is stinky, ~65 unbuffed, I still need to slot 6cha somewhere but intim is 70 unbuffed, and with the loss of that last fighter lvl I can't fit Imp Sunder in there.� Otherwise, I still enjoy it.� High HP, high saves, great threat gen, mediocre AC, and OK heal amp (human, Levik's bracers, eventually Claw gloves).� Overall, tanking is pretty easy like this, and healers don't complain.� I think the last time I tanked a normal LoB the Arti scroll healed me between naps.

There is a buff associated with S&B when equipped which describes a threat increase...goes away when shield is removed...pretty sure that threat gen only applies when shielding. I think the max dex bonus is +2

	Thanks for the replies. Now i wish i wouldn't have given away all those big top shards back when it was a 5 minute run I guess i'll go farm for both grim's and the defender necklace and then have a look at DT vs other named/epic armors. (only 3 red scales so far, so no red plate anytime soon)

	I don't see what the big to-do is concerning the red armor. Granted, it looks great, but I don't think it's necessarily your best bet as a tank. I wear the plate from the Cove...which I think is one of the better tanking pieces. The grind you have to go through (and/or the plat, depending on how bad you want it) isn't worth what you get out of it. Neither the fire guard nor the added fire damage will work on most end game bosses, so what are you left with...a blue and a colorless slot. Not your best option if you ask me...which you kind of did I don't know that any DT is going to outpace the Cove piece either...unless you're hard up for more heal amp, or threat, or something. TL/DR: I like teh Cove armorz!

	It's 16 armor bonus, 2 max dex, superior fire resistance and a blue slot. I don't care about the guards, i don't want to get hit anyways. I don't have the T3 cavalry plate, and i don't think i'll get a chance to upgrade my T1 plate until he's capped. Also, i pulled the shard and a scale on the first and only epic dragon i ran on my rogue that has since then been sitting in my bag� So all i have to do to get it is scroll farming 'till my eyes pop out and trade the good ones for reds

	I decided to revisit this, since I ran across Sigog's write up on his Stalwart. Very nicely mapped out details on the gear for end game ac s/b builds. 	My paly's current layout is: Head: Minos (Epic Helm of frost complete and in bank) Cloak: Bards (for Charisma Epic Envenomed in Bank) Armor: Epic Calvarly (slotter with greater nimbleness) Ring 1: Epic Ring of the Bucaneer Ring 2: Epic Ring of the Stalker / Epic Seal of the earth Necklace: GS Triple Air 300 sp, haste, +6 Charisma Skills Goggles: Con Op/ +45 HP Boots: Boots of Propulsion Trinket: Swap Spot Planning on Epic Brawns/ Epic SpyGlass (when TS needed) / Upgraded HoGF Bracers: Level 16 Bracers of the Wind (only tier 1 right now) Gloves: Fabricators (Swap in Maeyna's Iron Fist for intim). S&B: CC Buckler + EFang Belt: Assassin (mainly for the poison immunity) Eventually I'd like to get my charge guantlets / boots of corrosion depending on what I'm tanking. Mainly need to finish the gauntlets first then get epic tokens for slotting the abashi gear. Current setup puts me to a 78 AC Self/Ship buffed. I can hit 7 more finishing Abashi/HoGF/Bracers of Wind. Then I'll be trying to figure out what shield to use. DPS/Non tanking weapons I have a variety of 2 handers, mainly use eXuum, also have eAGA, eCalomel, Trip Pos Maul, smiters, banishers and some crafted Falchions that sit in the bank once I finished eAGA.

I haven't done it yet, since I'm still TR'ing the character that will be wearing them. Dodge +1 is a +2 shard, and a suffix. Mobility is a +1 shard, and a prefix. The third tier level 16 bracers have +3 potential, so it should be doable. I'll let you know in a month or three when I get to the point that I need them.

	As far as I can see Mobility doesn't go on bracers, so you can scratch that part. Feat: Mobility 1 Prefix Arcane 20 (100%) 39 (100%) Body Can Be Applied To: Medium Armor, Light Armor, Clothing, Docent, Ring, Trinket, Boots 3 greater, 12 lesser, 4 Khyber shard(s), for the bound version 9 greater, 12 lesser, 4 Khyber shard(s), for the unbound version
