IMO it's well worth the 60 bucks and the sub. The graphics and story lines are amazing, and gameplay is very good as well. It can't be compared to DDO in any way as it's a completely different style of gameplay. In my opinion, it's much harder and more technical than DDO.
For example, in DDO you can zerg the piss out of at level quests and be fine - Try that in SWtor and you will die faster than you thought possible.
I'd say spend the 60 bucks and give it a go. I've been thouroughly enjoying it since I got in pre-release.

Heh good I figured you would pick the better side. What's your name? Started playing today. Sith assassin ftw!
As to how good it is? Combat isn't very fluid but I wasn't expecting it to be given the other motor games I'm really enjoying the story though, I would buy the game and play it for a month or so for the story alone (if nothing else)
haha Yea - sith is the way to go. Look me up on the server I mentioned earlier. Lvl 23 Sith Assasin named Mts. (Of course, lol)
Combat is definitely different than what we're used to. Very ability and combo based. Somewhat like playing a monk or a paly.
Make sure your system is up to date for this game. After a couple days of playing it on my tired 9800 GT, I upgraded to a 560Ti and a new SSD and it looks absolutely stunning.
