Look like we're loosing our min level rings, from todays Lam release notes:

Reign of Madness

NEW: The rings offered as end rewards now have a minimum level.

Guess I'll be ransacking until Update 13 comes out

While this makes me somewhat sad, I am impressed that it was put into the release notes, instead of showing up as a stealth nerf like in the past.

U13 is really beginning to feel like a turning point.

I already had lots of respect for some of the Kobolds in the QA tribe, but during the last few weeks my respect for them are soared.
From my point of view ( and my frog addled brain ) the QA Kobold tribe is really trying to help us getting that game better.

The Stealth nerf is that all existing rings will be retroactively changed to possess a min level! Cheesy

This makes me sad because I enjoyed those rings, but I don't see it as a huge deal to take them away.

I never even bothered to try for one. It doesn't take that long to get high enough level to wear the RR ML:11s (back in the day) and now the ML:9 cannith +6 stat items.

I'm a bit of a twinker, I usually change to the best equipment possible every 4 levels or so (1/5/9/13/18).

having a bta No ML heavy fort, and no ML wizardry vi rings are pretty nice at level 1 on a double TR.

Yeah, I know. I won't be able to use it at absurdly low levels when I TR after U13 though /sadface

Eh. I guess it saves me the hassle of having to find a +6 CON one from the same quest now.

It’s also not the first time something like this has happened.  The Assault on Stormreach chain gave no-ML +4 Stat rings at one time.  The Harbringer of Madness chain gave +5's on Lammaland.  (But that didn't make it to live.)  You can get no-ML +2 Monstrous Humanoid Bane weapons from the Red Fens pearl turn in.  (Those should be ML:6)

I doubt it'll change the rings that have already been pulled... Changes made to ML on non-named items hasn't ever been retroactive before

They could do it. They have the technology.

Of course, with their track record on simpler named item changes, I'd have no confidence they wouldn't fuck it up somehow and they shouldn't have any confidence either. I don't think it's likely.

I still have and use my no ML +4 rings. No retroactive changes there.

I never understood what was wrong with no-ML items in the first place.

Twinking has a long history as the mainstay of most fantasy fiction. Look at Frodo. *He* didn't have to spend years training as a warrior in order to survive combat against a Troll in Moria. Granted, he was a main character and we're all just bit-players but the concept of gating by character level just stymies me.

If you as a developer think that your content is completely trivialized by someone killing boss mobs faster than you think they should be then you are creating your content incorrectly and it will NEVER scale well over time. The main measure of any given content's worth should not be "how many HP the boss has". That creates all sorts of problems.

Yeah, I can't seem to pull anything but junk rings.  On the bright side, I'm getting fairly quick at doing the quests.

I ran two this week, and everyone got garbage. I have a few really nice ones from running the chain for XP a few months ago though (and a few more from farming).

Now if I were a developer, I'd first change the loot tables so that only mediocre rings dropped, like +2 int of disabling +10. Then I'd put that into the recent patch, at the same time the Lama announcement about the change to the ML on the rings. Watching the twinkers running that quest until their eyes bleed, secure in the knowledge that they were wasting their time would be a source of great amusement for the entire dev team, I'm sure.
