I'm perfectly happy to farm up the ardor clicky belts from Amrath, but other than that, I want to make a temporary Cleric to use as a raid healer while my FvS potentially goes through some past lives.
Any suggestions on a build that will work "okay" for a first life cleric that wants to heal raids and also run leveling quests solo so that I don't have to sit around and wait for groups? I have plenty of cannith crafting ability, so generic gear isn't a problem, but I don't want to wait through a bunch of raids in order to get the gear that I'll need to be effective.

Helf pure cleric. Max wis, 16 con, 14 cha (or 12 str, 14 con, 14 cha). Dilly can be either sorc for arcane scroll usage or paladin for saves.
Pretty much any DC based cleric is simple to gear, just make sure it has the max potency/ardor available, +2 evoc item, gfl, heavy fort, etc.

Someone can cannith craft you Sup Ardor VI. If you're level 90+ you can craft yourself Sup Ardor VII.
Eardweller is dead easy to farm with the right char helping you (arcane w/Knock or Open Lock ideal), 15-25 5 min runs on average.
Staff of Fleshshaping is pretty easy to farm from elite Sinister Storage, just put a pug together and offer a little plat.
When Crystal Cove comes back you can grind out an Epic Cav Plate if you don't have one already. Same thing with Ornamented Dagger.

Alchemist crown and pendant are easy to farm and decent gear

The explorer area rare can be frustrating, but yeah. The one from Blown to Bits should only take an elite run or two if you have people passing to you.
No idea how good the set is for clerics; I looked at it for mine but what I had already was better so I can't judge.

Don't go full cleric, the capstone kinda sucks. You could either do something clonkish. Or get a combination of two of the following:
one Fighter - for combat feat (or shield mastery)
one Monk - for Toughness and maybe AC
one Sorc - more spell points with higher CHA (going for very high CHA if you just wanna go raid healing radiant servant)
one Wiz - one metamagic feat

I think clonk is the best option for clerics nowadays. Evasion just helps so much if you can get your saves up. Even if you just want to build a healbot, you can get just as much SP as a pure cleric due to at least one extra feat saved using monk bonus feat for toughness.

For an ungeared first lifer cleric, I think pure is fine. It's easier to build and requires less thinking.

The one thing I really liked about leveling a clonk is that I had decent AC for the content up to cap with minimal farming. It let me focus on healing others a bit more as the mobs that were typically trying to hit me couldn't out-damage my healing aura.
The Imbued Chaos Robe with it's +level to evocation for your bread and butter damage spells and +10 reflex saves is an easy farm and is quite useful.

Yes. Actually taking monk lvls early makes it a lot easier to lvl not STR-based divines to BB.

This confuses me. You have to wait around for groups on a healer?

What confuses me is waiting around for a healer at all if it isn't a raid.
Just ran a TS PuG the other night, accepting anyone meeting the level range and completed just fine without a "healer".

Very confusing endeed. But he was doing it the other way round: waiting for pugs while playing his 'healer'.

I only run BYOH pugs on my healer. I don't like being looked at as the babysitter.

I'm just saying that when I was leveling my "healers", I did what I always do. Start quest, LFM with IP, pop a hireling cleric/fvs, and go.
Those groups filled much more quickly than when I TR'd my monk, fighter and now arty, interspersed with tells asking why I have a cleric hireling.

This is what I'm doing these days, though I'll dismiss the hire if we hit 5 players. On my current TR1 artificer it really seems depends on the quest whether or not it gets hit. Last night was HiPS for streak. That filled after I'd disabled like the 3rd trap.
In that TS a melee, I guess, FvS joined and someone else declared they were the healer. They stated they were not and I stated that I didn't expect them to be. Most could use wands and all could use pots...except for those that don't carry them. There were only a few deaths.
