Looks like Turbine will be getting $80 a month for the next 3 months from me. I can sure use the Learning tome on each character of my 3 accounts.

I'm perplexed.

How does some of this work for VIPs?

Seems like VIPs should only buy the Base pack unless they want pets (guess we'll find out how much those tomes cost later today).

Looking at that link, it appears VIPs do get the Druid class without buying anything new and whatever the stupid Challenge pack is.

so for $30, we get the Epic Levels and the FR content.

although it appears with the Collector's edition, every character you create automatically starts with the lesser tome of learning.

Be nice if VIPs bought the Collector's edition, they would get the TP value of the two packs the give you.  Though I suppose if you ever wanted to do the "buy the game once and go F2P" that would be a good start.

And I don't see an Asterisk on the Druid class for VIP.  Hopefully it is free right out of the gate and not having to do an almost impossible grind for favor like that Cannith crap for the Artificer.

I just bought one of the limited collector's edition for me and my wife. I would have bought many of the perks anyways (veteran lvl 7, among others), and the free xp tome on every character you make is too damn tempting to pass by.  Embarrassed

Yeah, its in the FAQ, VIPs get druids and the challenge pack for free regardless.

I'm really baffled by them forcing people to pay for a bunch of packs regardless if they have them or not, it's like going "Hey, buy this, then drop your subscription and buy the rest of the packs you need, here's 2000 points to start you on your way"

Plus, $80 is a fucking lot for an expansion, Isengards most expensive pre-order was $50, and before you mention the tomes you get for the DDO collectors edition, every edition of the Isengard pre-order gave you a trinket for every current and future character which gives +25% XP up to level 65, just from enemy kills, but LOTRO is the style of MMO where you get most of your XP from killing shit.

Take my money.

I want this, but I don;t understand how it works.

If I pre-purchase, when do I get my TP, tome, etc?

Also, how do I make sure this purchase is attached to my current account.

Anyone have details or tried it already?

There is an FAQ.

Apparently, you also have the option of paying $59.99 when you pre-order to get 11,000tp (instead of the usual $99.99 price) I'm really confused, it's like they *want* people to cancel their subscriptions and buy out the game (as it were)

Here's the FAQ:

You get most of the stuff NOW if you pre-purchase.

It's those xp tomes that are pushing my purchase of the Collectors edition. 30 characters that I either have to level or maybe tr. XP will kill me if I need to keep doing the normal curve.

Here is a FAQ which explains things more in detail:

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?&postid=4332248#post4332248

As far as I understood everything:

- The only reason to pay cash for this (30 USD) is that you have earlier access (and a special pet bla bla) to the new content:  June 25th vs. "U14 sometime in August". So about 6-8 weeks earlier probably. EDIT: And ONE lesser tome.

- If you decide to pay more, you get moar pets, moar
tomes, Druids (free? to VIPs) and moar challenges. EDIT: And, remarkably, one lesser tome on every toon if you buy the most expensive bundle.

- If you dont want to pay cash, you can: a) Pay 3500 TP to get all new content (adventures, Druid, challenges, Epic Destinies) if you are VIP. b) Pay 5700 TP to get all new content (basically pay for Druid and challenges). That all is without taking the new tomes into consideration.

Did I understand this right?

Few remarks/questions:

1. The new challenge pack costs 700 TP. Compared to the exisiting challenge pack (1500TP?), we can expect what? Two maps with 8 different challenges and some nice loot?

2. I hope "Free to VIP" doesn't mean "grind the new challenges to 6 stars".

3. What are Epic Destinies? How much character power is in them?

I too am confused.

I have enough favor to unlock vet status (which I will never use, since I have 10 characters at or near cap)

I want greater exp tomes for 3 or more toons

I am VIP

I want the 11000 tp for 60$

I want a druid

I want to run the content

I dont ind having a spcil cosmetic pet/items but they are not deal breakers

What makes the most sense for me?

I don't understand the information for VIPs. Here is a chance for me to own content on my VIP account without it being part of the account so for this bit:
"
After purchasing the expansion, a product key will be sent to your email address. Log into https://myaccount.turbine.com and enter this product key. Select “yes” to upgrade, and then select the appropriate option for your account, read and agree to the Terms of Service, and click submit.
If you’re interested in becoming a VIP, select the VIP plan of your choice!
If you’re already a VIP, simply select that plan again. You will not be billed for your new plan until the end of your current subscription.
If you’re a Premium or Free user, and don’t want to become a VIP, select “Game Card or Other Payment Option” and for billing info section select “I don’t have one now, I will enter one later.”
"

I would like to try the 3rd option - because in theory it should be the same? Or at the end of my VIP sub is the price going to get hiked up? I think I would prefer to own this content outright without any reference to a VIP account.

If you're a VIP it seems foolish to buy anything other than the basic pack . . . am I missing something?

Ah... further down..

"I’m a VIP and I’m thinking of buying the Collector’s Edition bundle. It comes with some of the existing Eberron themed Adventure Packs. Do I still retain those even if I am no longer a VIP?

Yes, if you purchase an expansion bundle that includes the “DDO Classics” and/or “DDO Epic Classics” Adventure Pack bundles, you still have access to those adventure packs even if you downgrade from VIP."

So yes own content outright....and yes Auran all the questions you've asked I'm asking now -and this is about $30 more than we were expecting for the expansion gold pack... pretty expensive. Base addition $30 is about the price point but we were expecting a LOT for that $30. Here's seeing if it's worth it :/

Even if you don't have all character slots maxed out, level 7 vet status is stupid. It's not that hard for a first lifer to get to level 7. If you start at level 7 you still want to run the low level stuff (3 words: Coin Lords Favor), you just don't get as much xp from it.

For the 50USD or the 70USD pack, you will get ONE greater XP tome. You will have to buy other two from store anyway.

Quote:
I am VIP

That means Druid and Challenges are free to you. Not sure if you get those on 25th June or in August.

Quote:
I want the 11000 tp for 60$

so?

Quote:
I want a druid

see above

Quote:
I want to run the content

You want to run it with the cool boys in June? Pay 30USD! Or with all the others in August? Then it's for free to you as VIP.

Quote:

I guess that only depends whether you can wait for the new stuff.

I hope what I am saying is correct. If not, I am sure there will be enough ppl here to call me names.

If you think about it, new people aren't going to be at lvl 7. They are going to start at lvl 1 with 28 point builds. All alone, unless some nice TR lets them into the group. Then they are going to be lvl 4 in no time flat, thinking the game is all easy.
