Has anyone heard a rumor that Turbine is going to start banning for Window Farming? I've gotten it from two reliable sources in Thelanis. I know they talked about it forever, but apparently now it's srs business.

It wouldn't surprise me.  "Fixing bugs" is an incredibly foreign idea to Turdbine.

I haven't heard any rumors about that at all.

I think they're probably misinterpretting some dev comments from the Beta section.  Hit up the dev tracker there if you have access to see the comments.

Next up: Turbine fixes window farming but not Soft opens!!.

Now everyone will have to create a 2nd account for soft opens artificially bumping Turbines numbers and bumping short term revenue!!!

New players... even more screwed.

Breath easy. Followed the sources. Overreaction to the 'fixing' in the xpack. Apparently post expansion you won't be able to window farm

Totally false.   The new quest UI just confuses people.  Sis and I actually walked into Info is Key without either of us having the quest and we were the only two in the party.

This is a tricky one.

WF used to be, note the past tense, considered an exploit way on back.  Thus, after having a minor vacation from gaming, I banned the practice for my guild.  Which worked out fine until Shadow Crypt erupted onto the scene and folks started WF again.

I enforced the ban in my guild, and a few left because of it, but at the same time I used one account to report myself for WF on another account.  I had I forget which toon on my Rabbi_Hordo account report that Hordiva (on my Tyche account) had used WF in Shadow Crypt (and to be realistic I actually did WF Shadow Crypt twice...if only once the argument could be made that I had done so with the group accidentally without knowing what I was up to, but twice is less likely to be done unknowingly).  The GM sent back a message to me that they no longer considered WF an exploit or offense of any kind and asking me to stop sending in reports for this (did I mention I kind of spammed the report button on that?  Guess not).

Once I had that, I PM'd Tolero and Tarrant to confirm if this were indeed true.  Tolero replied that yes it was true.  Tarrant likley printed off the PM and ritually burned it on the I-Hate-Khyber altar he had going.  Armed with this knowledge, I removed the ban from my guild for WF.

I did, however, put the caveat in the guild charter where I wrote the ban that if at any point the pendulum swings back in the other direction be prepared for a re-banning of WF.  It would not surprise me in the slightest if they did so.  But, if they do, I seriously hope they allow certain quests, such as Shadow Crypt, to be red-boxed once one has properly flagged for it and completed it as they do with many other quests.

I know I have screenshots on my old laptop, but the graphics card is busted.  Unfortunately, I cannot access the PMs for any of the above accounts due to a slight disagreement with Tarrant (and much of this I've posted on the Vault in other spots anyway) so those are lost permanently.  I'll see if I can somehow get to see what is on that laptop if only to copy the stuff off of it.

How is there an exploit for challenges?  For WF you have to all leave the instance, and in a challenge you can go right back in immediately with a new instance without any sort of other turn-in.  I don't get it.

You can bypass the level restrictions.

That is how I get my lvl 2 character in a lvl 25 challenge but I wouldn't call that window farming.  Just need to join a lvl 20.

I don't know if Turbine will change their stance on window farming to consider it an exploit once again.  They may.  They may not.

The only thing that I know for sure is that if they do change their stance, they will not actually tell us.  The first few dozen people given a DDO vacation will be completely surprised.

The new quest screen confused the hell out of me. It's not very user friendly.

Agreed.

It's 100% counter-intuitive.

For the first 2 or 3 seconds i couldn't even figure out what I was looking AT, it's so poorly designed. Separating "Heroic" and epic into tabs was ridiculous, too.

I posted a thread about it in beta general. It's so bad I just can't really let it slide. It's one of those things that will drive away new players actually. If they can't figure out how to access a quest the way they want to, why would they play?
