Bullshit.  In a PuG, I'd plan being mana strapped the whole quest.  I might not actually drink a pot, but the use of heal scrolls, cure moderate mass, and maybe even wand whipping would be there.  It's resource usage all the same.  A "no resource" run of Chains Elite in a PuG is by no means a sure thing.

Chains is the longest of the 3 flagging quests and it only has 2 shrines. And it has a ton of archers with redonc to-hits with solid HP.  In several cases they are only accessible from range.  At a level, your FvS will have maybe 1400 SP and your Cleric around 1000.  You throw in a WF Barb with no healer's friend, no amp (what decent amp gear is available at level 11-13?) and Shit AC and they are a pincushion.  Running it in a PuG with a (probably) shitty caster and now you will have little CC, ranged nuking, haste, or displacement.  If your rogue is crap (or you don't have one) you have some nasty traps to heal/rez through. 

It sounds badass to say "you are doing it wrong" but I'm thinking you are talking out your ass. 

Just curious, Blank.  How many times have you healed Elite Chains at level in a PuG?

As for favored souls, who cares? Just an excuse for Turbine to ignore cleric domains.

This is the exact reason why pugging sucks, people think they can run in to every quest on elite with the exact same spells/gear/strategy etc, thinking that they can just be carried through the quest by someone who knows what their doing.  And when they're already subpar, it just makes for bad times.
