Keen in itself isn't bad as long as it doesn't "use up" some of the power that the developer wanted to put on the weapon.  If the weapon is solid aside from the Keen trait, then it's still a solid weapon.

The fact that it's kind of crappy compared to what it should have been isn't keen's fault.

I actually like it (again, as long as the weapon is solid if Keen weren't on it).  It lets people who have odd builds use some interesting weapons.  For niche weapons and for weapons that are especially strong against one specific enemy, I like it.

In general, I agree with you, but I do think it has its place.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying that this Bastard Sword is a weapon that anyone will give a crap about.  I'm just saying that Keen on its own doesn't automatically make a weapon shitty on its own.

Turbine could make a weapon with Keen on it (especially if it's a piercing or bludgeoning weapon) that is interesting and fun and worth using.  The fact that they don't is not Keen's fault.

Yes, yes, although you have to admit, greensteel's power/ml ration has always been a bit skewed compared to other items.

One of the developers actually said straight up that slots are for eberron items and not FR items.  That's because the FR stuff will all be more powerful, so it won't need to be as customizable the way that old Epic stuff was.  Since it's just straight up better, we won't miss the flexibility!

Fuck (almost all of) the raid loot.

When a named quest item is better than anything from an ENDGAME RAID we have a serious problem. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and keep farming out another Drow khopesh.

None of the new weapons breaks ANY metal DR. Do they expect us to bring an arti in every raid just to use these things?

Actually, it didn't look too bad from the one screenshot I saw.  I don't remember if the screenshot was from lammania or live however.

Twilight, Element of Magic - Quarterstaff: +7, 2[1d8], 20x2, +21 implement bonus to USP, +80 equipment bonus to Universal Spell Power, +120 equipment bonus to Force spell power, Major Spell Focus to Enchantment and Evocation (+3 DC), Arcane Augmentation IX, Greater Arcane Lore [BtC, ML23]
