I don't really want to just run around killing rares in the forest because there are about 40,000 miles between each rare and I'm sick of running around. 

I ransacked the Matron chest on the House of Rusted Blades (and also the Southeast chest as well).

Any other places to go commendation hunting?

For pdk, just get a group and steamroll bfe.

For druid, death undone dropped a fair few, as did rusted.

For war wizard, I think Thread had the most. Clerics were ok at dropping there as well.

Villagers are easiest out in the forest from the saving ones.

flag your toon for the demonweb.
run deal with the demon on elite, get one chest and recall, over and over (chance to get outfit or breastplate).
group up and go to trial by fury (probably on hard), rape hezrou chest and spider chest (chance to get docent or silk robe). spider chest requires lockpicker though.
forest explorer is pointless.

I ran the one chest to ransack a couple of days ago in Trial by Fury(hard).  I'm pretty sure I grabbed a commendation of some kind in 8/10 chests.
