	BBB is a for-profit corporation and a hell of a lot shadier than you might think. They blackmail businesses into paying them money to make negative reviews go away, and you can basically pay them money to get awards. Turbine probably just ponied up.

	I cant find the evidence, but I seem to remember Turbine being a very low rank soon after I started (3ish years ago). Turbine claimed it was incorrect submissions and was working to clear it up. Might ahve been Galanet (dev for game I played before DDO) but I dont think it was.

This is precisely true - kinda like Forrester and Gartner for technology-related stuff. Pay the bribe, get the rep. Unfortunately, if they're rated poorly due to being so small they cannot afford the payments, the trust people have in the BBB means they lose business. As a small business owner, I have more trust in the local Chambers of Commerce for determining trustworthiness. Kinda like the coin lords, yes; but if someone's really shady, the chamber members will disown them pretty quickly to avoid guilt by association..

	The BBB has little place in today's internet economy anyways. They served a purpose when social media and other direct communication methodologies did not exist. Now it's very easy to find out what past consumers think of a product or service without a for-profit corporation getting in the middle. Disintermediation at it's finest.
