Viability of THF feats.

I'm returning to DDO after a year and I'm trying to catch up with things changed.

I've seen that the the Cleave/Great Cleve/OC line is what melee builds go for, but I?m still trying to understand if the THF line has improved or not.

Can someone make it clear if it applies only to glancing blows or if there is a DPS boost against the main target as well?
  
In case you haven't noticed, most of the users of this site are passive-aggressive and prefer to sit back and watch Rome burn so they can say I told you so.  (Daily WTF)

My understanding is the THF line ONLY increases the special ability proc chances of your weapon on glancing blows. It may also increase the chance for a glancing blow (not too sure about this) but I'm almost 100% sure it does nothing to increase DPS with just your main attack on your main target.

That's what I understand, too. Several guildies claim they notice an increase in damage to the main target but I think it must be something else.

THF feats increase glancing blow damage, which do hit the main target. Just use a non DR breaking THF weapon on a Devil boss and watch all the small yellow 0s. A Barbarians glancing blows will be more than some TWFers main hand damage.

you're also only able to get glancing blows when stationary. so if you're moving or twitching, the thf feats do absolutely nothing.

General consensus has long been 2HF line is only viable for barbs (who can enhance their glancing blows enough to surpass twitch damage) and S&B bastard/daxe users. Otherwise twitching is so much more DPS that it's a waste of feats.

The reality of twitching for me with so much going on, lag, and that lovely latency crap of ending up in front of a boss if you move 1 step has stopped me from twitching so much on my fvs (which will fit in THF feats and cleave/great cleave + OC when I TR).

Can you point to post-MOTU analysis that supports this statement?  With heavy use of Cleave/Great Cleave/Supreme Cleave/Momentum Swing/Lay Waste, twitching is like masturbating while jumping on a trampoline.

I haven't seen anyone do the math post-MOTU. Dreadnought may close the gap with twitching, dunno. If you're supreme cleaving you're a barb and were taking 2HF anyway.
