3 months for an experienced TR with 30% pots.

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=4934591#post4934591

Note - I have a TR taking about 3 months  Undecided.  But I've spent about 90% of my gametime on my other characters. Probably only about 12 hours of actually gaming on him so far.

my first tr took about 4months.

I was also playing 15 other characters at the time........and was trying to decently outfit two characters for endgame.

but I didn't use xp pots.

You should really specify what part of Thrudh's threadh you agree with before people start pointing at you and whispering.

I have no idea how long it takes the average flower sniffer to TR.  I know how long it takes me (a few months, sometimes 6 or so even) and I know how long it takes the guys in my guild that are "good" (a few days to a week).

I don't think I'm a flower sniffer, but I do tend to do it mostly solo or in pugs when I have to since I can't keep up with the likes of rest, lostleader and cable in my guild.

My point?  I either take longer than the average casual flower sniffer, or Thruhd is even short changing them a bit.

With non-game obligations, I would consider a 4 week TR to be "fast". For me 6 or 9 months is more typical.

That is a perfectly valid point. I saw someone else put some math up, saying something like 110 playing hours for them. If you don't have some of the packs that let you farm some good xp quests, or just don't like farming, maybe its 200 hours. If it takes you six months to invest that in a character that's what it takes.

The main lesson here is; never miss a chance the Thrudh bash.

I normally have 2 in tr rotation at any given time, and it's probably 4-6 months, depending on how I feel about grinding them out or working on another toon.  I also tend to run a tr as a duo

Took me from MOTU release to December to get back my TRed character into Druid to 20, playing her every time possible, catching all the TR Guild Trains I could...
I"m not one of the guild expert TR ( they can get a char back to 20 in about a month or two ), I'm not a flower sniffer either.
Now my guild is on the casual side, even if we have several dedicated players.

See, that's the thing that people don't talk about. They talk about the number of days and bash each other on both sides when the number of days (or weeks, or months) is almost irrelevant.

It's the number of hours spent playing that matters. Outside of the limiting factor that there are 24 hours in a day and presumably some are spent eating, sleeping, or on the crapper (and assuming you're not eating on the crapper with a laptop playing DDO) the number of days to TR simply doesn't matter. That's just stating what percentage of your time is spent on your hobby.

Now, there are more efficient levelers and less efficient levelers. Some due to skill, some simply due to enjoying inefficient play styles (PuG'ing for instance Wink ). But an efficient player using the best methods will still take more than 4 weeks to TR if they're playing 4 hours a week.

I would definitely be interested in seeing some non-quest timer based TR time numbers. Someone using the most efficient leveling methods possible who logs the amount of time spent logged in to the character to get from level 1 to level 20. I think the number would surprise a lot of people on both sides of the discussion.

i did that last week. Actually it was a 3 hour 50% I think and a 6 hour 30% that I had about an hour left on.

You really shouldn't measure how good someone is at TRing based on time passed offline.  It's a better measure based on how much time you spend in game.

40 hours is reasonable on 30% pots.  For some, that's a month.  For others, that's two days.

Fortunately for us, we don't have to guess when it comes to turdh.  He really is a moron of the highest order who is terrible at the game.  He spends thousands of hours on the forum yet tells people off for spending too much time playing the game.  This is the same guy who said he bought a 300 GB external SSD for $100 5 years ago and said he was a "tech expert" all in the same breath.

One thing for everyone who is a "skeptic" on this issue: Insurance companies are basing their underwriting on the assumption that it is real. They are refusing to write policies on homes that are likely to be in danger from rising seas 20 years from now, even though the resale rate of the homes is so high that they could keep writing policies for another 10 years and still not have to pay out on 1 policy in 5, but that would be irresponsible. Unethical, as well, but that's never stopped anyone before.
