NW Response to the comment:
Our goal is to make it a literal soon and not a Soon(TM)

I always thought Soon(TM) originated from the DDO Vast and Mysterious stuff. I've never seen it used elsewhere. Mebbe an old DDO member is on their team now? o.O

Right. Because a 15 horc fvs always does the swim on elite after the guy with evasion dies. Breaken necks and dying in traps ftw - back when you were the shit, of course, which must have been way, way, way before I met you.

So it's just like DDO then? "EH FoT - main Destiny only, have PLIS and Ring of Djinn or gtfo"

Or is the gearscore req. actually imposed by the game? I have quite a ways to go before getting to Epic levels...

You can check your gearscore ingame. If you haven't figured it out, it is the number right after the words "Gear Score":

1. Hit "C"
2. Look right below your character stats on the window that opened.
3. ???
4. Profit

I had a fine time, champ, don't get misty. Come play some neverwinter. We have 1 spot left in our shockandawe party. Roll a caster - they're the balls.

Yeah, I'm really starting to like the Foundry, and I like the Skirmish mechanism too - I like the challenge of keeping a bunch of random pugs alive, while at the same time not getting any loot because everyone rolls "Need" on the Cleric gear Wink

What shard you on? I've got a cleric on both Dragon and Mindflayer, though I've been concentrating on Mindflayer..

Alright, I've decided I'm pretty much retarded when it comes to figuring out the chat/party/social/group/foundry/quest/everything else interface in the game.  If anyone wants to contact me in game and show me around a bit, just look for Salamir Bloodfeather on the Dragon server.  I'm running around Blacklake atm.

I've gotten to 11 on Dragon.  Inkblack was already taken -- sad times.  I went with Athegian, cleric.  I feel invincible.  I died once, because I fell in a pool of acid in the middle of a boss fight.  Killed the guy and his minions, and by the time I realized I was still taking damage I was dead.  I r noob.

I can't figure the grouping out either.  I spent some time looking for a group for the Black Lake Terror (or whatever its called) but couldn't bring myself to spam general chat.

At one point a random person invited me to group while running around Blacklake.  We then ran around doing separate things, and I couldn’t tell if it helped or not.  I tried playing with party chat but couldn’t determine how to get it working.  Later I figured out that you can use “alt” and then click on the bubble by the chat entry box to change where your text goes, but by that time I was no longer in a group and couldn’t tell if there is a party chat option or not.  I assume there is, but /party doesn’t work.

Also, zone chat spam is pretty overwhelming.  I think the chat interface is going to take a good 15-30 minutes of figuring and configuring before I’m comfortable with it.

Also, the whole “queue” interface is still a mystery to me.  And it doesn’t look like there’s a way to look for people in different zones.

Ugg.  The game looks like it has a lot of potential, but the UI is not intuitive to me at all.

Click on the gear icon in the text UI box, and set up the tabs you want, generally you want to turn off loot rolls and zone chat and such for partying. The default chat tabs are pretty messy, but once you spend 5 minutes setting stuff up you can get it pretty noise-free.

As for grouping, yeah, that's a bit sucky, no idea why everyone hasn't just copied DDO's LFM system (in a lot of moments I felt it was quite obvious Neverwinter devs are familiar with DDO, so no ide why they haven't copied it) when it's still probably the most simple and intuitive one.

Anyway, you queue up (K key) for skirmishes, dungeons and PvP (you can queue up while solo, or in group, as long as you don't have a full group). You don't have to have the dungeon/skirmish in your log to queue up for it. Depending on your class, time of day, other factors, it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to several hours to get a group - but the thing is, you can do other stuff while queued up. So generally, it's best to queue up for stuff in your level range when you log in, then do the explorer area quests, and accept group if one pops up.

As for grouping in explorer zones (no idea what they're actually called, I just call them that Cheesy ) and instanced quests (the ones you can do solo and can't queue up for), you'll need to do that manually (since AFAIK they're designed for 1 player + companion), which is very painful - you either have to spam zone chat (and a lot of people have zone chat turned off) or invite someone you notice is running around the same parts of the map as you Grin

As far as I've noticed, the best way to group for zones is to just try out the chat once when you just start and see if there's anyone else in the zone who needs all the quests done. Wouldn't know really, I soloed all the zones and instances, other than one time some guy invited me, killed stuff with me for 10 minutes then went afk and I dropped group Cheesy

NWO is fun to play, but the UI is seriously annoying.  I fucking hate mouse look.  And I can't figure out grouping, chatting, or anything social at all.  It's fucking annoying.

I'm sure that 80% of it is that I am a total noob at the game, but geez.
