I'm trying to come up with a nice level split that would work in both the current game and post-enhancement pass. I really like what Symerith did with
this build on the DDO forums. For those that can't see it the framework is basically 14 paladin, 2 monk, 1 ranger. Add on to that to taste, take ranged feats through manyshot, try to fit in Quicken/Empower Healing, and do the Cleave/GClv/OC line in LD.
The build works but if you want to run TWF with it the feats get really tight. I'm wondering about going a different direction but using the same mindset - self-healing dps toon with extremely high saves thanks to Divine Grace and a manyshot option for burst dps.
Rather than using 14 paladin as the base I'm thinking of 14 ranger base. That provides the evasion so we no longer have a reason to go 2 monk other than the feats. In the current game I'd say the most logical split to fit in at least 2 paladin and 14 ranger would be 15 ranger, 3 paladin, 2 fighter. You get full BaB, FoM replaces Zeal (not the greatest trade but oh well), a third favored enemy, and of course the full TWF line.
You actually free up two feats that the build I posted takes which would allow you to go Half Elf and open up the half elven arcane archer line adding quite a bit to the burst damage. Going HElf also opens up a dilettante option. You'd need to boost the wisdom more than I'd like but you could go monk there for additional healing amp to give even more self-healing. Could also go rogue just to add additional damage which wouldn't cost us anything stat-wise or even favored soul if we wanted to have 90% on heal scrolls.
The 3 paladin gets us the fear immunity in the current game. Not much there but better than 3 fighter. 2 Paladin is for Divine Grace and 2 fighter is for the feats and the haste boost if we ever leave LD for some reason.
From a post-enhancement pass perspective the monk PrE's really don't add much for us...so dropping the monk levels is helpful. Tempest is a nice tree and we can go deep in it. 2 Fighter gets us some useful things from Kensei while 3 Paladin lets us go decently deep into one of the 2 paladin trees (most likely defender). Post-enhancement pass though I'm thinking Human looks more attractive. That extra feat as a dragonmark of passage would be really handy and the tree in general just looks better to me.
So would this framework work well now? After the enhancement pass? I'm thinking it does a better job of fitting in what the 15 paladin/3 ranger/2 monk does for THF into a TWF setup but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything before I move forward fleshing it out.
