No idea either, but it sounds like something that would allow the quick creation of unlimited plat.  Similar to the past bugs with the supply crates from challenges being endlessly openable from your bank or the dowsing rods being sellable for crazy amounts of money from the cove.  Those are the last two bugs that created infinite plat and broke the economy. 

Of course, both times the economy settled down after 2-3 months.  I'd bet it happens even faster now with the shard exchange and TP codes and otto's boxes.  Most big ticket items don't even sell for plat anymore.

It wasn't that they sold for a lot.  It's that they were bought for a cheap amount of coins so you could make a ton of them.  It took an hour to make a million plat running between the trade-in guy and a vendor.  Especially if you didn't realize you had an overflow bank... 

I never even considered rods an exploit.  I was trading coins I earned for rods that I then sold.  It was no different than selling loot you got from quests except for the shear volume of left over coins you had after buying the good stuff.  There was no screwing with the system involved.   Was it stupidly shortsighted of the developers when they put the system in place?  Sure but that's no different than a lot of other systems they created.

The supply chests on the other hand were instant gratification.

Plat wasn't really the economy at time anyway.  All I ever used that plat for was heal scrolls and such.  Anything of value traded for scrolls or scales anyway.  I still probably have 20+ million plat across all my toons.

This bug been out for months. Loose lips sink ships or in ddo they get exploits fixed is why not many of us have shared it.
