I am fine with updating the launcher, although they should have kept the option to automatically connect to the last server.

However, they need to do some graphics clean up on the new buttons, the borders are fucking terrible.

It remembers the last server you connected to... you can just hit enter to log in....

And this only works after the first time you log in using the (newly updated) Turbine Launcher (which I don't normally use).  Mentioning this detail would've saved us the mini argument.

Yes, but that is an extra step as before if you had the check box marked, it would just connect automatically to that server.

But the old dialog had the "Cancel! I didn't actually mean it!!!" button displayed for 2.5 seconds until it connected...

It's easier to get confirmation than assume and undo.
That's true for all of life, not just software.

So, I prefer the extra step being missing. The vast majority of the time, I tell the game to log in and then step away to get a drink, etc while it loads into the character selection so I'm good to play when it's loaded up.

When I update forms for clients, I don't add extra steps that they didn't previously have to perform if the tasks are the same.

The thing that just gets me, is why change it and remove it?
Was it causing the lag? Was it causing the game to crash in wilderness areas?
It's dumb shit like this that removing it for no better reason then removing it makes me lose faith in turbine. Yes, clicking my server again takes 2 seconds, but seriously all I want to know is WHYYYYY.

Ya my buddy is having a similar problem: http://imgur.com/SoRx23N

He played for very many hours yesterday, & now today that is happening.

We have been troubleshooting over email for an hour or so now Sad

No progress! Sad

(He has tried all of his toons, tried a different account, tried rebooting the pc the router is connected to 3x,

rebooted his pc/router/modem no luck, tried bypassing the router connected directly to the modem, no luck,

he pinged the gls.ddo.com 100x no packet loss at all, tried running as administrator still same problem as well.)

All out of ideas almost at this point. Sad

A lot of people (particularly those with older/slower computers) have this problem. General consensus is that it is something which Turbine needs to fix.

Only other option is to get a newer/faster computer.

If Turbine was going to update the launcher, then they should have increased the screen real estate for the update information.  It's ridiculous to compress maintenance messages into 1/6th the size of the launcher screen.  It should be 2/3 the size of UI for easy reading.

New launcher broke my autohotkey scripts that were auto-filling in the password field when the account field was selected and auto-accepting the EULA screens if they appeared, so I got pylotro working for me.

Do this change in ddolauncher.script if you don't like the script text window staying open after the game is launched:
change line 328 from
Quote:
./dndclient.exe $gameClient_ARGS &

to
Quote:
cmd.exe /c start "DDO Client" ./dndclient.exe $gameClient_ARGS &
