FoS told to interact with forums

FoS has been responding to the growing chorus of how the new loot is not quite what everyone expected.

I don't recall him being very active before one week ago.

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/425069-Fireproof-Goggles-Passive-20-Fi...

Such as

You'll be happy to hear that all of the affixes you named have been and are still available.

In addition, they have higher level versions that can be found- Improved Banishing/Disruption/Smiting, Greater Banishing/Disruption/Smiting, and Superior Banishing/Disruption/Smiting.

The higher level versions can instantly kill monsters with a greater number of hit points, and on monsters who exceed that hit point cap or are immune to instant death effects, deal increased damage on vorpal.

ho, he was active, he was even active here for a while...

But he stopped due to a misunderstanding between us and him... Over what loot should be.

Since then he has kept giving us crappy named loot and making random loot gen way better than raid named loot.

According to KookieKobold, Melange created 12 named items in Shadowfell:

That's from Lamannia on August 11.

or Etheral instead of Ghostly on the Goggles  Roll Eyes

Yes indeed great items, excuse me while I go into the corner and cut myself

Melange created 12 items after everyone complained that the stuff Feather of Sucks was fucking terrible.

Please guys, FoS made wonder-pots stacking and besides, he gave us the big loot-overhaul that made all raid loot redundant.

I don't want him to be criticized, he's an AAA developer!  Cool

this is a trap, we will now complain about his items and they will try to make us believe FOS items were better so he should start doing items again ;p

They even changed the thread subject...

One thing for everyone who is a "skeptic" on this issue: Insurance companies are basing their underwriting on the assumption that it is real. They are refusing to write policies on homes that are likely to be in danger from rising seas 20 years from now, even though the resale rate of the homes is so high that they could keep writing policies for another 10 years and still not have to pay out on 1 policy in 5, but that would be irresponsible. Unethical, as well, but that's never stopped anyone before.

And according to a Sol's Plumage post on the other forum Melange took his/her/it cue on item creation from Sol's Plumage himself.

So for me that amounts to the same. More F_o_S'd items, even if they were made second hand by F_o_S.

Skullduggery Kit, Shadowsight, Nether Orb and Goatskin Boots are well itemized and desired.  The Illusionist Gloves are ok since they provide an accessible source of +11 INT, but will be tossed aside when +11 stat items are readily available with level 30 content.  First Blood isn't terrible, but it pales in comparison to Nightmare.  The rest of Melange's items are suboptimal, and some deserve a "what the fuck were you thinking" classification:
  • An epic elite crossbow without an enhancement bonus.
  • An epic elite longsword with a +1 enhancement bonus.
  • An epic elite dagger and maul with a +4 enhancement bonus.
  • Magistrate's Scepter is complete garbage.
  • ML28 items should not be limited to +5 Combat Mastery.  At the very least it should be +6 so it's better than the ML24 cloak, and the epic elite version should be +7 (where EH is +6). Incrementing Seeker instead of Combat Mastery was the wrong choice.
  • Prismatic Cloak is garbage.  If there was one cloak with 30% absorb for all five types, that might actually deserve a gear spot.  Maybe.

The enhancement bonuses and base damage of the weapons are the most wtf-y things of a pile of wtf.

Yeah, I'm not sure they really understand why people use the weapons they do now... I certainly don't use Celestia for the Greater Good or Nightmare for the Entropic damage...

It would be neat if there was a hidden recipe to take five different Prismatic Cloaks and combine them to make one supercloak with 20% absorb across the board.  Or other hidden recipes, or future plans to make other stuff fusible...

I liked Dante when I was frequenting DDO - But I don't recall him being a dick to the devs - What's up with Cordovan?  Has Dante swiped at them since I've been gone or something?

Hm, I think a new high-level fusible/malleable item system could be pretty cool. Have an ingredient similar to the Sora Katra marks drop as chain rewards or in a new raid.

IDK.  More of a fanboi from what I recall.  Haven't been there much since they broke the forums...  Maybe FoS brings out the best...
