Not sure how many they got now but if they are really going to delete items with extreme prejudice on all the currently banned accounts then there is finally a risk when using exploits.
So even if they don't manage to punish every exploiter this time some players are probably going to be afraid they might belong to the ones who get punished next time.

If they don't delete the posts in the official forum next week when people start to complain how bad they got fucked by turbine it should have a decent impact on the amount of players who are going to use such an exploit.

But who knows... maybe they just take their time and continue investigations until christmas. One week investigations/bans and one week clearing the inventory of the banned accounts. Then starting over with investigations.

At least from my point of view 10% chance to lose more than I got from using an exploit is a risk I wouldn't take. But this opinion is probably a minority in the vault. Cheesy

even if they emptied every bag I had it wouldnt matter much.  I'd be pissed for a day or two but most of my shit was molding away untouched before the duping thing made it semi-interesting for about three hours.

Eternal Wrath was hit hard with a lot of bans close to 12 so far

so they r working themselves thru this issue by going  guild by guild on every server and once found one with "extreme prejudice", they will ban the "exploiter"? thats gonna take them years to ban everyone.

There's only 1 reason Turbine is actually going after people here, imo.  They felt a little sting in the cash register.

There were 2 exploits, not 1.  If you knew how to use them together, and if you had a few friends who were willing to team up and pool resources, you could make some interesting things.  A lot of those things happen to be sold in the store.

I mean, how much money were they going to make off Raid Bypass Timers, Experience boosters, or +5 tomes if we all had a few thousand of each in our inventories?  That's why they are going in and trashing the goods.  Most of the time the exploits just help us out a little, this time it was going to have a negative impact on sales.

This is also why only certain people are getting banned while others are ignored.  Since exploit #2 involved the guild chest it's a safe bet that bans will have a heavy impact on some guilds rather than general population.

This^^

They have never had the tools to manage database properly due to the way toons are saved so they had to go in manually. Very expensive to do this but it involved store items this time.

The only store items that were impacted were jeweler's kits and some augments at most.

Unless I'm missing something, it wasn't like you could get tomes or raid bypass timers.

Yes, you are missing something.  The list was fairly impressive tbh, kinda pissed I didn't think of some of it myself.

Use the few brain cells you have add Duping Exploit and Bag Exploit...

Just an example :

Buy 3 Yellow Dopant ( BtA ), dupe the shit out of them.
Once you have stacks of 1000s Dopants starts selling them through the Bag Exploit

It didn't take me long to see the implications once I knew about the Bag Exploit.

It's like adding the other two exploits currently active together... Your Lowbies TRs are basically demi-gods in quests, but it's not as if it had any impact on store sales.

you need exploits to make your lowbie TRs demi-gods in quests?  the shit is easy enough as it is with randogear and ship buffs.

hell some quests I can walk away while a hireling completes it.

If the old bag bug is still active then it only impacts the same stuff you could duplicate. You wouldn't even be able to trade BtC epic items like last time because they don't restore into an essence like they used to. Realistically, how many augments or jewellers kits or epic items can a single account use?

The only way the duplicators could have had much impact on the economy through mass ASAH spam and I didn't see duplicated items appearing on Khyber until the last days of the exploit. I just can't imagine Turbine being able to justify paying people to go through accounts individually for the minor impact it will have on their overall revenue stream.

Congratulations though to those who managed to get their first Red or Green armour, build a few decent Cannith or Eveningstar Challenge items, or finally got to see a decent old epic item for the first time in years of painful grind.

Since they have patched out the exploit I guess I'll spell it out.

The guild chest was bugged and was allowing BTC and BTA items in, provided they were in a bag.  Three guildies get together, and start bag/chest trading their Mabar Dragon Signets.  Now you have 3.

Apply duplication bug in generous measures.  Return to your guildies their share of the loot.  Repeat as often as you wish.

"But each toon can only get one +5 tome!" you say?  That's nice, but I bet you can think of a few people with more than 6 alts.  I can think of a few with more than 20.  20 +5 tomes an account owner didn't need to farm or buy makes Turbine no happy.

Yellow dopant, (sold in store)
True Imperial Blood augment,
Festivult cookies and cakes, (sold in store)
Medium Eberron Dragonshards, (xp pots and sp trinket, sold in store)
Ice game coins and recipes,
Tokens, (Hearts of Wood sold in store)
Canith and Eveningstar challenge mats,
Canith crafting mats, (sold in store)
Augments of any flavor, (sold in store)
Dragontouched Runes,
Epic Scrolls (anybody need an SOS scroll for cheap?)
and let's not forget to fill your gem bags until you plat cap.

Incorrect.

Even non-epic items can be turned into essences. Litany is a prime example.

Neither do the old Devil's Ruin, etc augments

Or so I heard. I certainly didn't try it or anything.  Roll Eyes

Now essences of cleansing, on the other hand...

Well it's not clear what reason turbine banned him. It could just be coincidence.  He's going to keep me updated on the ticket he put in, but it's just kind of sad either way that they can't even give a reason up front.

How do you turn that stuff into an essence? I tried it with epic items with siberys dragonshards and it just clears the slots. What am I missing?

It's a lot easier when you're using the correct altar.

I hear there's one in necro iv.  Maybe you should try that with one of them newfangled litanies that are upgradeable.

So you want to know about an exploit?

Ask yourself: Was it a wise idea to give Turbine a list with all the nice things they may have missed? We know that at least one dev is reading here and I don't think they knew about all the nice things. It's as dumb as all the dumbasses braging about how Turbine didn't get all the dupers (yet) and wondering when the investigations may end at the same time.

If the Vault had managed to suggest, that Turbine had gotten every duper and people enjoyed there stacks without braging about it ... THAT would be awseome.. But it's the vault we are talking about.. sight..

Funny cuz it's true.

A half-dozen boss Vaulties donated generously with real money to my classroom during a fundraiser in May 2015 to get poor kids books to read. I won't forget that. They know who they are, and they freaking rule.
