Lots of threads complaing about Maban.

At the time of this post, 16 of the 25 non-stickied posts on the first page of the General DDO discussion are complaints about Maban. 9 of the 25 on the second page are about Maban.

This amuses me greatly.

If only the other 9 about Maban were on the first page, we'd have all 25 maban threads on one page! (and nothing else.)

Someone go bump them. I can't atm, too lazy to make an alt.

Tried one with my guildies...
Most of us were in the same Instance... Everything Was fine until Eternity appeared.

Then it was Greek Statue Time ( in my case in front of Eternity ), I was spamming Hjeels ( Mass ), Bursts and BBs in hope it did anything... In the end finished quite dead in a failed instance.

All the guildies ( and me ) decided that Mabar was going to be a pass this year.

I had 2/3 successful runs. Not sure if the first one wiped due to lag or to incompetence - an altar was destroyed.

I had 3 successful runs, all level 20-25 instances. Nearly no lag and everything fine. But at 11 pm GMT +2 the lag started and two 20-25 instances failed because of lag. Then tried a 9-14 instance, everything was fine.  As soon as the first people in some userchat were talking about the completion of their mabar instance the lag started and nearly made us fail.

Not sure what they did, but last year I had the impression lag situation would get better as soon as other dragon instances finish.

So if you play in the US peak hours you might be better off trying to beat the dragon with a lowby and kill the dragon fast before the lag starts to hit.

It also seems the altars can take more beating in the lower levels until they break compared to the high level instances.

Except, do the lower instances drop Signets on a first run?

Not sure what a lower level is to you, but I can personally guarantee that a level 13, non TR, gets a signet on the FIRST run, which also turned out to be a successful run.

This same character then ran during peak hours, again a successful run, but the lag was absolutely lagtastic.

For level 13s, there are not that many characters in that range it seems.  Obviously, server dependent.  My second run as a level 13, two hours later, we did not have enough players.  Left the dragon through one of the doors, and I think I got back the key.  Not sure.  I am tracking that now to make sure it is WAI.  I know during preview I lost my key, even though I got the message box when exiting.

On the same server, running at level 16 and higher, there seems to be plenty of those.

0/2 last night.  One of the alters broken both times.  No idea if it was lag or just bad players.

I'd like to blame lag, but I'm not sure that's justifiable with the folks online yesterday.

The running low levels is only helpfull at the real peak hours, then there should be enough at every levelrange. Because what else is there to do atm besides TRing?

Apart from that the lower level instances are easy enough if there are some vets in it so that you can easily beat the dragon with less players, but hitting the 16 players minimum might be a problem depending on time and server population. Probably need to check it before hand. But if the lag is bad enough that the high level instances fail with 90% chance then you are probably still better off trying a low level instance and hope for enough players and at least 1-2 vets in each room.

Could be.  I didn't notice any lag with either the gargoyles or the dragon when they showed up.  Figured it'd be hitting everyone if it was lag.

It would be cool if a Wizard, Sorc, or Artificer could cast Repair spells or Reconstructs on the altars like divines can cast Cures and Heals on many of the NPCs in the game in order to keep from failing the quest.

I noticed fucktons of lag, not from the event, just running to Deleras. Took about 3 minutes to run from the guildship portal to the graveyard entrance, which is what, 15 or 20 steps? Lag wasn't as bad once I was in the graveyard, but did noticeably stutter once or twice. On Khyber.

It would be cool if Turbine could get their shit together and not make laggy ass events they have to incentivize with +5 tomes because otherwise the gear is mostly outclassed by lootgen. Honestly, without the lag, even marginally competent people wouldn't need repair on the altars.

Agreed.

It's funny how every year Mabar has serious problems. They should Just Kill mabar entirely.
for now Change the requirement for a signet to X amount of Motes.
Since the only problem is the spectral dragon instance.

This is common sense, It's not Rocket science!
