As for me I DO listen to the sounds but they are set between 1 and 3% depending on the type.  Voice is set to 100%.

I find that the voice chat is easily drowned out by all the other sounds.   Even with the other sounds set so low the "Ding" of someone sending a tell or joining the group is very noticeable and very loud.  I can't imagine what it would do to my ears if I had the volumes set to 50% down the board, much less 100%.

Also it's "crinkling paper in OUR ears"   sorry I am not normally a Grammar Nazi but man for some reason that one stuck in my craw.

What MMO is all that difficult?  SWTOR?  WoW?  LoTRO?  NWO?  GW2?  Conan?  EQ?  I can't think of one I've played where I found the game even mildly challenging. 

Even more laughable, what MMO is "cool"?  I'm not sure you are in the right place if you are looking for a passtime that will impress others.  And why would you care what other people think, anyways?  If you enjoy it, more power to you.   

How does either of the above relate to listening to the DDO sounds?  Or are you saying we should all be so ashamed of ourselves for playing DDO that we should throw a blanket over the screen and mute the sound so that no one will hear or see, lest they mock us mercilessly for the remainder of days?  Not everyone is so full of self loathing and lack of self esteem as you are.

Also, fwiw, I like the sound of stunning fist being successful. Also, implosion. Maybe a couple other things.

There's some quests where the sound is kinda cool. But the levels are so dumb you have to have em down to hear voice.

I gave up on the DDO forums a while back. Sometimes I'm tempted to unload some zingers at the forum idiots but then I figure, why bother, I'd just be wasting my time. They're just crying for attention anyway. Too bad they're all Turbine bothers to listen to, when Turbine listens at all. Oh you meant in the game. Well, incidentally, within Over Raided we tend to laugh at the stuff the Orien idiots will accuse OR of doing. There's obviously the Desolator variety and the must-have-exploited variety (no joke: recently, one of our members was reported for exploiting for soloing one of the necro quests -- I think it was shadow knight but I'm not sure -- because there's no way you can solo pull multiple levers at the same time! which we found out because a GM contacted our guildie about it due to the report). But there's also stuff like OR conspiring to make sure other guilds fail raids, trying to break up other guilds or leech their members, or corner the market on some item, etc. Whenever I hear the latest story I always think of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OExykL5QnXY

They're pretty funny sometimes, but most of the time it's just kind of sad realizing the depths to which people will go to blame others for their gaming situation, especially the guild leaders who are the ones who can set the guild's atmosphere in the first place, and I frequently wonder why their members put up with it (and accept their own gaming situation). So I guess sometimes I'll listen for the humor value, but then, as they say, weep for humanity.
