A tool I just posted on the official forums, reposting here for those who only come here:

My version with a cool button to update all colors:
- green = you got all 3 parts
- blue = missing shard
- yellow = missing seal
- red = missing scroll
- light blue = missing both seal and shard
- white = you got nothing



Also contains seal drop locations and descriptions (not up to date)

I would however reduce the amount of colors to:
Red: You got 0/3
Orange: You got 1/3
Yellow: You got 2/3
Green: you got 3/3

Here's my method:
I have 3 large ingredient bags in my shared bank each with shards, seals and scrolls.
I regularly go to the bank and empty my characters' personal ingredient bags into the shared ones.

You can change the color by modifying the color codes in the macro, it's pretty easy if you're tech-savvy.

I find that using a very obvious color like red for missing a scroll is better since it shows which items just require you to go to the AH or your favorite trade channel/forum marketplace. Yellow and blue just tell you "fuck, you have to run that quest over and over again"

Okay, so, I've never been skilled with Excel, but when I open the file the "Update Item Status" is not present. Any suggestions?

Yes, I did allow the macro.

I'm using Office 2007

Maybe I will just snag OpenOffice.  I haven't actually used it in several years.

French can be quite methodical... I'm using the same method.
Though I don't trust Shared Bank for bags, so they reside permanently on my Kender ( read : Halfling Rogue Kender wanabee ) like all the stuff that can go into bags and can be put in shared bank without having to disable notwork.
He has a nice collection of bags : 1 Seal bag, 1 Shard Bag, 1 Scroll Bag, 1 Challenge Material Bag, 1 Cannith Manufactory parts Bag, 1 Greensteel stuff Bag, 1 ToD Boot Material bag, 1 Cannith Crafting Lesser Essence Bag, 1 Cannith Crafting Lesser + Greater Essence bag, 1 Trap Parts Bag, 1 Other Things ( Lordmarsh and Madness Stuff mostly ), 1 Bag for BTC Stuff, 1 Soul Gem Bag, 1 Collectable Bag, 1 Gem Bag.
( yes that's almost a full page of bags. I really don't trust Shared Bank with Bags. )
