here for you all to have fun with, the new Pando shit they have decided we had to bear with :
https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/435076-Installing-Akamai-Netsession-In...Basically it's a peer to peer piece of shit that install itself in a sneaky way.
First experiment :
it hides in the registry :
HK_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and it spawns two instances of itself. ( at least on my computer... at a guess maybe an instance by CPU core/Thread... I need to check with my work laptop )
Steps to kill it are so far :
- delete the registry entry and kill the processes.
It can also be uninstalled since it seems to be a separate install from DDO.
Killing the process and deleting the registry entry had no impact on my client update.
( I did it while the client was updating )
Anyway, another proof that there's a problem at Turbine, it's mentioned nowhere in the Release notes that we are going to be hit by yet another piece of craphogware after the awesomiumprocess debacle.
