I quit after 2 weeks; I didn't even use my entire free month.

Spent 3 months playing The Secret World (which was really cool), then came back to DDO ;O

Yeah, I stopped playing despite that I stupidly paid for a 6 month sub. It's just too boring.

I'll probably check it out when it goes f2p just to see my characters again.

Well,l some fanboys on MMORPG.com convinced me to give it another try.

Long story short: It's worse than ever.

I'll just skip over the details, but the one thing that really stands out is the community; they are the biggest bunch of assholes I have ever encountered in my life.

Seriously, this site is basically the biggest jackasses from the DDO community, but even this sample is so much friendlier than the average ESO player that it's not even a fair comparison.

Also of note is the lag; I thought DDO was bad about this, what with one or two raid wipes a week due to lag, but ESO's lag puts it to shame. I'm talking about 10 lag deaths per HOUR while soloing in public areas.

I guess I just got sucked in by the last few desperate players trying to get anybody they can playing, even if they have to lie about it. My bad.

Depressing on all accounts.  Just finished Skyrim and was considering giving it a go Sad

The only thing ESO and Skyrim have in common is the "Elder Scrolls" name, which sucks because I really, really wanted this to work out because I have run DDO into the ground  Undecided

Just "finsihed" this. It SUCKS.
It might be worth a single play-through at $16 or so if you can find a key as I did.
It's worth shit right after that, and HONESTLY it's not even worth that.

As any Bethesda game it's full of motherfucking bugs, - still better then DDO but I feel like stating that is essentially the same as shooting on the red cross...

If you enjoy the Oblivion / Skyrim Lore, well this shit had absolutely fucking nothing to do with it.

A few cool things should be noted however, The support isn't halfassed shit like for DDO, or nearly any other MMO I played.

Mods are the thing. they allow a lot of customization, from inventory handling to fight stats, to ... well basically just a bunch of UI shit.

Money/Making money is a bitch and a pain in the ass.
Crafting is as shitty if not more shitty then it was in Skyrim... maybe also because you can't ~ player.additem ### but heck, if it was a pain in the ass while being able to do that, I don't see how it could possibly not be a pain in the ass without being able to do that.

Horses cost way too fucking much gold. 17k to 52k... basically motherfucking insanity.

Inventory space was such a huge goddamn problem that you truly can't enjoy a run of 1 single dungeon without running out of space.
Expanding said space is pretty fucking expensive too.

And obviously, being a Khajiit, altmer, dunmer, etc. didn't actually affect quest lines or anything at all really.

The worst part of the game is probably dealing with the zone chat and idiots there in.
As an idiotic strategy Zenimax or Bethesda decided not to have server wide auction houses, but guilds instead.
Haven't used them, no point in using them really.
That coupled with not having a /trade or something similar session pretty much makes it so that the zone chat is constantly spammed with shit.

The graphics are pretty fucking bad.
In fact there is not ONE single fucking instance where you remain mesmerized as you would while playing Skyrim - Blackreach anyone?
Literally, best PC, a 2k screen to go with it. maxed out settings - it just fucking blows, no matter what.

I think that if anyone wants an account with 1 level 1 vet, a bunch of shit. 5 mule toons - one for each type of resoruce pretty much - and a bunch of already researched items I might be willing to sell it for $50's worth of Turdbine points.... If I consider that seriously I might actually get all the skills researched, and I'd likely post it as an offer here in the "other games" section...

After-all just cuz I think this game is pure shit - and that it can't hold a candle to skyrim, it doesn't mean that some other dudes/dudettes don't like it...

Eidted:
I never encountered lag in a whole week of game play.
The only one time I was having issues, I can't call it lag, it was like stop motion... and was likely to be caused at my ISP level rather then the server. Time Warner bastards like doing that to me.

Every time I hear people complain about ESO's graphics I can only assume they have shitty pc's.

Don't get me wrong, in general the game is rather dirty & bland, but the graphics and lighting can be great.

So you want to know about an exploit?

The lighting is pretty good in most places; that's what DX11 does for you. But everything glows, and I was constantly mistaking a patch of flowers for a mages guild tome, etc.

And look at those textures! They look like they haven't changed since ES3.

The character models look OK standing still, but as soon as they move, it looks like an alien has eaten out the inside of the person and is trying to walk around by pulling ligaments and tendons while sitting inside the ribcage.

When I played I was always trying to wrap my head around that myself.  I couldn't work out if it was done to still allow for lower spec machines with ESO's huge instances, or just cost cutting.

The fact that there still isn't a high rez texture pack makes me think the latter.

I don't think that it ever occurred to them to do so; that would require them to care about what their players want.

I remember some Argo losers blabbing on and on and fucking on about how they were leaving DDO for this shit.  I tried telling them that that it would suck, based upon the 5 minutes of research I spent on ESO.  but nope, they had to go make asses of themselves by trying it, bending over to dole out all the cash for it, then come crawling back to the shitstain of a game that is present-day DDO.  fucks sake I know, right?

Hm... this relaunch reminds me of something.

Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

So it begins..

I know thats the reason, but im still shocked that wildstar didnt end up announcing b2p or f2p before ESO

gotcha, I am actually not upset about the b2p, and will probably still stay sub'd. the problem is not what it is as of now, the problem is what everyone knows it could lead to as far as the cash shop goes. we all have seen DDO. . .

I feel like there just has to be a better way for the gaming industry to work so that developers can get money and we can have fun. as sometimes its downright immoral and exploitive.

It seems like PC players can pay to transfer their toons with all their stuff to the console megaserver. I guess there goes my hopes of playing TESO on my console without a ruined ingame economy due to duped items.
