And I did mean the proper pronunciation of the the country/river/province but with the reactions I saw about the niggard thing I thought even the proper pronunciation might get a bad reaction, hes trying to say the N word but cannot pronounce it properly!! Ditto with typing it up on boards.

Or was it also because of what niggard or being niggardly can also mean? Being stingy, something with negative connotations? So double whammy sounds like a racial slur and is something can can be negative?

Niggle can have negative connotations as well, so if someone says someone else is having a bit a niggle and that person is dark skinned would that garner some bad reactions.

Also throwing handbags, ok what could be offensive about that? Well what if it was said about a player who might be gay or likes to cross dress?
