She has a valid argument, men often act like shits to women in video games and it's very understandable why she would be sensitive.

I have a friend who was asked seriously by a dude in the game to see her tits. She's married, and she talked to his guild leader about how she didn't like this and then he started acting like the victim in the situation.

Men act like shits to women (also the people with the least social skills for some reason are attracted to the most social games like MMORPGs and FPS's), and she is right to be sensitive about it.

There might be a cultural difference going on here, but as a Brit I'd really only be comfy with close friends / running partners saying "hun".

Mel - the way I've conquered it when people have been skeevy at me is either to laugh derisively and say something like "God, I can't believe you just said something so crass" (not hun calling, when I've had leering about the accent or something)  or to nip it in the bud - "Don't call me hun, I don't like it / find it creepy / etc." I had a harmless but socially challenged guy continually hitting on me in one channel and that repetition eventually got through.

Also the OP here's being a bit unfair - what's with the axe to grind?

-Open relationships, so they already do that IRL anyway with others.
-They hate whoever they're currently in a relationship with and flirt with others for whatever reason I don't care about.
-They do it for gear/ressources in game.

As to why. Well, why not? Simple as that.

DDO seems to be one of the better games when it comes to interactions between genders online and I've only seen one case of a dude being grossly offensive to a woman and another dude in the party told him to shut the fuck up.

I can understand that nobody wants to play in a hostile environment but sometimes people just need to harden the fuck up. I know people who use "honey" interchangeably with "dude" or "bro". Getting upset because people comment about picking up your stone is also bit over-sensitive.

Seriously. If some dude is being a jackass then tell him to stop being a jackass. Don't run to the forums with this whinging and victim bullshit.

As you said, there are a lot that try to "escape unwanted attention". But there are just as many that want all the attention they can get.

Honestly though I did exaggerate a bit. I don't go around asking every single random girl I can find, I'm not THAT rude. kierg10 was outraged that the guy asked a "married" person. I was simply pointing out that, even if they are in a relationship, they can still do it just as any other would. Heck, most of them never even mentionned they were engaged or dating and ended up figuring out later while grouping with them AND their boyfriends. Pretty awkward stuff
