The Shield of Legend fragments can not be dragged into the shield frame and stay in the inventory and thus occupy extra space.

I didn't (and won't) try with the Tome of Untold Legends pages but probably they should be the same.

yep.
You can't drag items to containers any more (what a craptastic idea).
You have to hit the collect/gather button (which only works 1/minute or so)!

Simple right??
So what happens when an item doesn't have a gather button?
FUBAR is what you have  - gratz, you've been Turdbined!
Another win for Turbdine QA!

Yep. I wrote the shield fragments specifically because the frame does not have a gather button. At least to prevent people ending up with filled up inventory space.

They are amazing at frustrating their clients.

They should announce that litany and abbot are going to be closed until a hotfix, would reduce the amount of support tickets asking for help to get the sigil or quest advanced by a GM.
Not sure why Turbine didn't think about that genius plan already. Cheesy

Yeah they only managed to slightly break litany flagging with the 'bag bug'. They need another try to really mess it up. Cheesy

If you can afford the SSD, it is a much better soln.

The prices have come down significantly and the sizes are increasing.
You can go with a 128gb model and put your operating system and key program's on it for a nice speed boost.
Just store your data (like your poRn collection) on a normal HDD which are dirt cheap now.

... and if you cannot afford an SSD, at least get a USB 3 pen drive... it'll also ensure that you get rid of the login issues.

I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person that has log in issues on an SSD

Since U22 my partner has issues logging in and she's using an SSD. Not just you.

I've not heard of it on an SSD.
Just means your problem is not related to fragmentation and HDD thrashing.  Could still be a flaky SSD too.  Is it an old or new SSD.  Does it support TRIM command?  Might need a cleanup.

Also opens up the possibility to router issues on your local network (if you run one), to connection issues (packet loss) to potential internet routing issues (not much you can do about that).  You could try to isolate the cause (if it is just one) thru testing.
Have you tried to narrow it down?
Is the 2nd login only required after a reboot/cold start?
If you leave your PC on and go back several hours later to login, does it still require a 2nd logon.
If not, you could still have a caching issue - do you have caching enabled?

How much RAM are you running?
Do you have a page file active for RAM overflow?  (Suggest you put it on your HDD, not the SSD).

Lastly, I would check your vid card drivers.  Depends on when the first login craps out, but if it is during a transition, it might be a vid card driver issue that your OS error traps and repairs for the 2nd login.

Just a couple of ideas from problems I have seen over the years.

I've got 2 SSD's, both less than a year old, neither has any issues playing anything else

Without going to the effort of showing my traceroutes here, my connection to turbine seems about as direct as you could hope for all the way from New Zealand

Actually the first login after a reboot generally tends to be when I'm least likely to have issues

Both SSD's have caching enabled (i've got lam on one, live on the other)
How much RAM are you running?
32gig

yes, but I'm also running 32gig of ram, ram overflow is highly unlikely.

AMD ATI January 2014 drivers, I've had log in issues for since early last year though.

Just a couple of ideas from problems I have seen over the years.

in red

Something I've not tested before (on live, and probably really should)  I've got the old DDO High res installation (4 isos) from 2012, I normally start out a clean install by running that then updating.

I redownloaded Lam from scratch though and it would take anywhere between 1 & fuck knows how many attempts to launch.

My issue is that after the launcher disappears there's an eternity before the game client opens, and when it finally does it's coupled with a server is full error.

If you're running Windows, I'm pretty sure it uses the swap file for laughs no matter how much RAM you throw at it...

Why swapfile not on SSD, DropBear? Wear?

Some people are worried about the limited write capabilities of SSD's vs Disc Drives.

I'm not one of those people, if my page file is getting used I want it to be on my fasted drive.
