Started an RPG class at school this year. Now a bunch of nerds stay after school to game. They're using AD&D atm.

The groups I run use 3.0.

BUT, I may be able to get the school to buy the three new core books as materials. WIN.

I looked through the basics, and I like it.

Cause the kids have a hard enough time playing the role of real life?  Tongue

These kids do. Most of their lives suck.

A half-dozen boss Vaulties donated generously with real money to my classroom during a fundraiser in May 2015 to get poor kids books to read. I won't forget that. They know who they are, and they freaking rule.

Hey, if they are staying after school playing RPG they aren't getting into trouble.  More power to you.

Exactly. I run games during a class period. But, it helped develop this other student-led group. I'm very happy to see them nerding out in a healthy way rather than causing trouble OR being neglected at home.

Yesterday I got supply money to buy all the new 5th edition books, dice, a mat, a DM screen, and a dice tower (why not?) for my RPG class. I'm pumped.

PLUS, I get to help out a local hobby shop with the business.

On Wish:

It is very important to let your players think they got you, that they got away with their asinine 12 page wish covering every angle.

Just give them that look you give them when you are about to screw them, smile that sly little smile, roll some dice for effect, then let them have their wish.

It will eat at them forever, wondering when the screwing will come, and when your ready 6 months later, "hey remember that wish spell..."

Fuck Off, That is all

I think this edition successfully highlights the essence of the brand.

Just picked up the PHB, looks excellent so far.  This is the edition I'd use if I ever ran a PnP campaing again.
