Hi All - I though about playing this game back in 2008 - 2009, is this a viable game?

A good joke is like a good recipe.  Try using a little less butthurt next time, it throws off the flavor Wink

Why thank you, although I needed no affirmation of that fact from anyone, and certainly not from some sad, fat fuck who is a DDO fanboi.

Having said that, I am a Time Warner stockholder, and every  bit of profit that can be wrung out of Turbine has a chance of increasing my dividend check. As such, I would encourage you to continue spending money on DDO as you attempt to offset the wretched reality that is your life.

Just for your information, not all companies optimize their business operations to maximize current profits. Amazon, for example, is much more interested in increasing its market share at the expense of current profits.

You would know these kinds of things if you were anyone who mattered, but clearly you aren't.

Now, be a good little fanboi and toddle off to the Turbine forums where you can get your daily dose of Cordo ass kissing done.

Hi Welcome

I used to play that a while back for a couple of years.

First of all their f2p model has some major drawbacks (cant have more than 3 gold on you) and a lot of other things (no perks) so if you are not going to pay for sup better not consider this at all, unless you just want to check it out.

Otherwise i wouldnt really call it a grindfest. The only thing that i could consider as grinding was raising your PvP level otherwise most of the good gear comes, not from lucky drops but from token turn ins,so you feel the progression.

Mind you AoC is a much more hardcore mmo then DDO so accept that raids can last for several hours and pvp can be very frustrating if you are a noob, getting one shoted and all.

I gave it a go with Sedious earlier on this year.

Despite the advantages of playing it socially with someone, I couldn't get over just how old the game looked, felt and played.

I don't personally think it's worth the download even as a f2p game.

I bought it at launch and was HIGHLY disappointed in it.

The only good thing about it is that you can run around with no top as a female character. But that gets old once you've shot your load.

When it came out i really enjoyed it, killing people you didnt like had a great appeal to me. Even now it does actually... If i could kill some people in DDO until they logged off i would probably never stop playing DDO.... I think it was one of the first games that you could xp through pvp... tho that might have been Warhammer. That first day of launch in that first open pvp area.... Topless women everywhere ganking. It was great fun.

I moved on to it with a few of my long term guildies, before they all gave up gaming to have regular sex so perhaps my experience of it was different to yours.

We only stopped because we outleveled the content. Nothing like breadcrumbs to an area that has nothing in it to curb your enjoyment of a game.

I played it a bit with Mo, and i realised i just can't be bothered leveling up and then grinding gear in something so old. It's like trying to start Eve online...
