Experimenting techniques and tips

I want to try experimenting with different techniques in DDO. I downloaded NetBalancer, so theoretically, I'm all set to go. But I was wondering if folks experienced in this stuff could give some advice about the basics, such as using the program, or even something like whether UL vs. DL is important to limit.
Links to tutorials (with basic language) would also be helpful, especially if they're not text only.

Maybe not for your learning style, but I asked for it, so apparently, I do need it. Thanks though.

as long as you get 2000-3000 ms latency ingame, your settings are good.

Right, it's doing that that I don't know how to do. So far, whatever I do causes my loss to go up to 99.5-99.9%, without massive latency. And I'm not understanding what causes latency without leading to full client crash.

Well I don't use your software, I use Network Emulator for Windows Toolkit (NEWT) so I can't help you with the config.

create a rule for the program you wish to cause latency on by selecting it and using the delay feature
ul and dl should be self explanatory, jitter will help causing packet loss. you are gonna have to play with numbers urself as this is dependant on your actual real connection to the servers

Will do, thanks! Hadn't played with the different options in the drop down, but was thinking jitter might be what I wanted, because it just sounds like 'unstable connection' that people talk about for getting things to work Cheesy

with a netlimiter, after using potions my latency raises to 1300-1700 ms and i think it gives me enough time to interrupt any process

i just cant understand (and keep trying) "lost and found system" does it works with consumable items (like exp stones) ? or works with any other items ? my goal is to dupe otto boxes. dont have any yet, but experimenting with augments.
