There is an issue at the moment where champions are getting dual damage buffs.  Getting hit for 3K on high PRR/Fort (220 PRR/195 fort) toons is very possible (while funny the first time.. it gets old fast).

While I agree this is likely not working as intended.. it is happening.

I played for maybe 5 hours since u 24 so maybe i just am lucky. But did twice wgu, rest of the stormhorns, vol and fleshies and tbf  - need another cloak.
Both on 170 prr pally and 110 blitz tempest.
So fought maybe 40 champions ? Dunno.

EDIT : Well doesn't matter that much anyway. I don't think you guys would exaggerate here on purpose heh.

I do take your point and would if I could.
But  travelling atm so not playing.
Only have the forums.  I'm reading both sides on both forums with interest.

The idea has potential if they were less common, but it sounds as though the implementation is flawed.
I only venture comment on what I read, as i can't say whether it is too hard or not personally.
Not that it matters much, there is so much noise on the mother forums about it,
Devs will just be laughing the sadistic bastards.

Epic hard new quests. Eye stalks 1,000 force beam. Medusa gaze 2,500. Taken 900. Huge spawns of red alert in fashion show with 4 champs and a jail gang rape circle of taken that insta juggles you. Lived through Optic Beam of Death. Survived the Lolwut Taken Hulk Smash. But I died to the Medusa gaze. Felt numb. Looked around dazed and blurry. Checked log. Nothing. Again... This time scrolling back further. Still nothing... Check the difficulty. Says Epic Hard... I panicked. Froze there for like a good 2 minutes. Almost uninstalled. 

Edit: was on a pally with 186 prr, displace staves, 1200 hp.

Got raped by 3 casters in Proof is in the Poison.  6 missiles each hitting for 20+ a missile. My own fault for not wearing z broach of shielding though.

Tested out the spawning in Haunted Halls. The skeleton giant's mobs unfortunately do not drop chests. That or 10 minutes of watching them fall dead as I left the room was insufficient testing.

The Mummy's spawns however, were all champions, all 12 of them. They dropped 7 chests. Still, not much value to it. Maybe a PM could heal the mummy back up to a 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4, and they would spawn again. Seems a lot of effort to go through.

What difficulty RV?
How did you bring them down - so you were fighting a purple named and effectively 12 super red names in a confined space?  That's pretty impressive! 

And wow, that sounds pretty broken too.  12 out of 12?   Huh
7 chests is ok, but if they only drop vendor trash - meh.

Oh, it was after finishing the EH run. So no, not much of a challenge. I think. I mean, maybe they would have been really awesome if they'd have hit me. But it was a lot more like a game of Epic Ring Around The Rosie.

A lot like Devil's Assault until the lions spawn. DA's first wave, every. single. Ba'atezu. was a champion. I tried it EE, just to get a feel for how bad it would get. It was definitely manageable, considering I'm still leveling an off destiny, and I didn't get Christianized until the lions came. It actually just reminds me of what it was like before the PRR pass without evasion.

I'll say it again, it really matters what type of mob the champion is. Spellcasters become very bad news in groups. Zombies and skeletons, not so much. And I believe Rest, champion eyeballs sound like a royal FUBAR.

Makes me wanna step into that Deneith quest to see if there are champion ballistae.  Cheesy

Funny, when people were complaining about mobs spawning on top of you (such that there are no hit and run tactics) I was thinking of DA being a real bitch.

So all the crying about champions got me to run a couple quests after my guilds raid night last night.

Guildie needed demon web chain so we zerged it on EE. Other then champs having a bit more hit points and hitting a bit harder in melee I am not seeing much difference. Every group of mobs had at least 3 to 4 champs and all orange named mobs were champs.

These are not the hardest quests but still why did we not get destroyed? Not even one death. I was disappointed.  Cry

idk, running lot of quests since update (well EH mostly) and havent seen such hillarious hits - only in new stuff couple high dmg strikes.

from the other hand hard halls are pretty fine loot runs now - with killing all necros, whispers horrors and mummy guardians we re getting like 15 bonus chests - and i ve seen some fine things dropping - like +4/+5 tomes, ruby eye augs and lvl 28 augs. since i still need to get neckie from there, thats not bad

btw theres another isue w champs i ve seen a lot - good number of them is spawning with not full hp bar - i ve met some who have like 20 percent of life just as spawned.

Is this a guess or something confirmed by a dev?  This does match what I've observed.

So what's the highest HP you've seen on a trash mob so far?  Saw a 95,000 HP hill giant in EE Lines of Supply.  I'm betting one of the HH Owlbears could break a million.

I have only been putzing around in the vons because I do them so often.

Von 2: 2 EE runs, both times at least 75% of the dogs were champions. of the 6 beholders I encountered only one was a champion. Damn near all the fucking spiders were champions and 1 did drop a chest, VT. End fight 4 of 5 the first run, none the second run.

Hah! This is the most fun actually playing DDO that I've had in years. Since whenever it was that they introduced scaling. Did I mention that I'm actually playing? Not just showing up to roll dice or shit-shuffle or dupe.

I'm treating this like an event. I know champions will get nerfed. I've only got a limited time while they're calibrated right for me. (Crazy and random, lol!)

At this point I have done everything thru eveningstar including the new quest all epic elite. Also have done storm horns (EE). Granted champs are random but I still do not see what the fuss is about with champs.

They are not hitting for more then 500 at the absolute most. So is it just in the new madness quests? or is this just separating the older players with a bit of skill and the newer players who cut their teeth during the era of turbine catering to the casual crowd.
