Yes, we do use what is known as the Roman alphabet.  Don't think anybody would dispute that.  Using the Roman alphabet to enable written communication does not necessarily mean that the language is of Greek origins.

Look at Finish, for example.  Their language was unwritten, verbally taught and passed down from generation to generation.  Then a Christian monk, German iirc, came and learned their language.  He then applied the Roman alphabet to phonetically spell out the words.  So now the Finish also use the Roman alphabet, but any knowledge of their language would make you laugh to suggest that it has Greek influences.

English is typically referred to as a Germanic language.  It does have influences from many other sources, Latin and Greek both being high on the list.  This is why historically those of "higher education" would study Latin, and most of our medical and scientific terms come from these two languages.

And yes, I was joking about the double consonants.  Now let's all go back to being grouchy Vaulties and pissing in turbine's coffee instead.
