i know DDO has been often very laggy, but these last days has been extremely laggy for me. i push the the button, look at my character, expect her to do as i command, after 5 seconds she move 1 pace, then i wait another 5 seconds for another pace. fuck that was a really bad experience.  Angry  if this is going to keep up, i am not sure if i can play anymore :/
anyone have a similar experience? how do you coop with lag?

LAG is a decent guild. Haven't seen them around lately though. I like to /dance with them when they join my pugs. That is how I handle LAG.

I got used to it after a while.
  • When ever I'm about to contend with a ladder, I'll stop and pause for a moment before jumping on.
  • I've learned over time that I need to be just in front of mobs to swing at them
  • Not facing error with spells has been dealt with by turning waiting a split second then casting.
  • I still run into errors with casters spells going on cooldown costing me sp, despite not casting a spell.  I've managed to get around this by getting used to playing without quicken.

Air jets are the bane of my existence. I've never been able to deal with the hitching involved, which is why I sadly skip the pit and spies in the house.

No lag here - still playing other games while waiting for them to release a real expansion.

Turbine policy - glitches and poor coding resulting in interference of your game play or enjoyment will be ignored.  Glitches or poor coding on the developers side that at all benefit your game play or enjoyment will result in your character being banned and/or items from your inventory deleted.  Please report all bugs via our bug report...when it works.

Simple.

If it's still acceptable, ignore it.

Otherwise, take a break.

Btw, can we have a facepalm smiley - or am I just missing it?

i have never heard anyone imply that combat log itself is a source of lag. can anyone confirm this is true? most legit lags are party/instance wide, and I find it highly unlikely that anyone's combat log is responsible for this. maybe on a shit pc, the log could account for some small amount of lag, but its just a text log of shit that is happening regardless. disabling combat log doesn't prevent anything but the displaying of text. just because u cant see it doesnt mean the engine isn't still computing all that information.

Does anyone else agree that disabling combat log can reduce lag, or that combat log is a source of lag?

I don't handle Lag...
I only have lag when the whole server lags.
and in that case, since it's a router somewhere most of the time, there's no point in trying ot handle it.

Now I'm not a normal person... Before I changed computer I had issues with the Physic in the Supermario bits of Deathwyrm... Since I changed I don't.
( and the rest of the guild tells me my issues were caused by my crappy 8+ year old computer that did lag... but I didn't notice anything... beside my inability to jump )

Yes my avatar is an Hermine eating a Greenland Lemming for brunch.

Most of the lag in DDO comes from their shitty instance system, which btw is not restricted to the party in one instance (that's the shitty part), AKA one deathwyrm instance can freeze a Marketplace instance so it's not really always under the control of said party. Turning off the combat log is a myth.
