I get really bored with soloing, and there's been sweet FA in terms of LFMs in my timezone (UK, although playing for an hour in the day these days)

This is a horrible event. Who on earth decided it was a good idea? Can you buy the "mimic repellant" aka make the event go away items for plat, are they in bulk, or is this some kind of stupid bullshit I have to do each time I log in? What the hell?

You can talk to an NPC in the hall of heroes to give you a buff that lasts until you log out that prevents any chest you open from being a mimic. Probably won't affect others in party, though.

Wonder if it works on the mimics that are supposed to be there...HH, Wheloon, estar challenge, etc.

OMG that is terribad. Run to the Hall of Heroes each time you crash, or switch toons, or fix memory leak?

How do they come up with these terrible ideas I don't even...

the sad part is the devs are probably high fiving themselves for having allowed an opt-out system.
As always, I just don't think they thought it through very well.
This is the type of stuff the PC could give feedback on and stop the daft ideas making it this far...    Undecided

you seem to think the PC members actually have a voice, or actually can be arsed to argue to make their voice heard

No delusions at all, but this is how the PC could help Turdbine.
I don't think PC members being vocal was a problem - it was the reading/listening part on the other side.

Or the PCs are just spineless yes-men. That's who I'd choose of I was an arrogant sonofbitch and created a PC to stroke my ego.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

Hall of Heroes is the Pet Project of one specific current dev. Everything is good to make it useful, even the most useless, spiteless, stupid things.
If they had had a clue it would have been a fucking Store Potion, 25 TP for an hour. Not a fucking NPC in an area with delusions of grandeur.

Except that right now they are rolling out stuff at double speed : there is no PC to pile on them... the 2014 one has been fired monday, and the 2015 one hasn't been chosen yet.
Oh and they can still roll out things without showing them to the PC, it's not as if they didn't do it all the time last year.

I don't like the idea of this event. Instead of giving players the option to participate, now you have to buy a store item not to participate. That's imo retarded. I feel events should be fully optional, and this is not.

Also the crafting seems to be really shit. How can you upgrade the items? Or is there no upgrade?

I agree but isn't the opt-out in the Hall of Heroes or is that just a plug for Lammania?
I too am interested to see what happens after you have motes, as that part is all to vague at the moment.
Why the hell don't they just use the Mabar Interface.
In fact, just use the Mabar mats and dump the whole stupid mimic idea.

I might have missed that, the video was really boring. I just heard Cordo say "you can get it in the store".

the opt out is free, the "mimic bait" is instore.
not that this makes the event any less retarded.
i mean, seriously, just imagine the amount of behind the scene calculations going into every damn chest in every damn server to either paint it a mimic or not, then god forbid the server reaches limit and ALL chests become mimic, think "3bc/mabar opens" lag but multiply it times every cunt running a quest/raid in the entire fuckin game.
now i dont have a way of knowing what infrastructure changes have been applied to the hardware at turbine, but if i can force a whole raid instance to DC against their will just by spamming a few visual effects with calculations on my character alone then it wouldnt be too hard to predict the whole server crashing instantly when trying to perform so many calculations and changes at the time.
like seriously, who comes up with that kinda stupid shit?

That is actually a relatively easy fix if they listen to feedback.
The hard part still remains - how some in a party opt in and some opt out and how this works.

It's weird that they're giving the finger to anyone who had mats saved from Mabar. I can see the argument (Dupers, waaah), but if that's what they are worried about, why didn't they dump Festivult & Winter mats as well?

Because they know the Risia/Midwinter stuff is complete shite, whilst Mabar gear was useful?

I don't think it was primarily the duping, more likely they wanted a "new innovative" collectible system to stimulate excitement in the game again.....
Yeah, how's that going Sev?

Devs perception check to understand and implement the concept, "new" -- Roll a 1.
