My point is that this game mostly americans play, where other games its at least 50-50.

Can you explain to me then why ddo attracts mostly americans? Dungeons and Dragons brand is known world wide. Shouldn't be like that.

Also it's complete fucking bullshit that companies, not only turbine, refuse to merge servers when needed. Why the fuck ddo can't have one mega server? It's not like this is an open world game with housing and guild halls placed on the map. It is 100% instanced. It's not even an mmo, more like co-op multiplayer.

Bro, this is really hard for me to believe.

I live in Greece, a country one would think its denizens wouldn't know what d&d is too, but even in the smallest of greece's towns there are tons of kids and adults playing that. Also we have shops that sell d&d pretty much in every city. I think that ppl dont know what d&d is only in some war torn middle eastern countries..

65 people, damn. And here I thought Thelanis was short on LFMs.

If I remember correctly (I might be thinking of another game), DDO used to have a referral program which used to reward you with Turbine Points, that program was shut down along with MyDDO. Kinda seems like Turbine should give an easy and rewarding incentive to players who want to help the game by doing the advertisement work for them.

Yes, it was ddo that had that.
When they switched to new forums, that was gone.
You would get 10% of the tp that your referral bought iirc.

It's absolutely time for one server.  I can understand all the tech jargon on my you "can't" do it, but it's time to house the dwindling community under one roof to ease player retention.

Turbine marketing is really missing the boat.  Take for example, the 6 LOTR/Hobbit movies.  Would have been a natural tie-in to advertise LOTRO during the pre-movie commercials...  fail.

Maybe it is time for mergers and so on, it might save them some money and so on. money they could invest in fixing broken stuff or better yet write new content that isn't squirrels chasing cars for the sake of some sick perversions.

My guess is to why, is simply because they fired any one with the skills to make this (merger) happen successfully with out any fuck ups.

They can't be trusted to take a bag out of the bank without mishap, and you want them to try merging servers?!

The low population sucks, but the bloodbath that would result if their current crew tried a server merge would be truly horrible.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

It did not used to be this way. I ran many raids and dungeons with folks  from other countries. It was commonplace to have an Aussie or Kiwi, a European or an Asian in the group. sometimes all of the above at once.

So many left or waned off ddo with motu...

Quite sure you can forget about a server merge. Merging servers, they'd have to worry about all the potential duplicates, and a lot of ppl would have to change toon names etc etc. Look at what happened with Lama, they tried to allow you to re-transfer your toon without a wipe, but it failed (unless they've somehow fixed it now, but I doubt it). A server merge would mean lots and lots of work and potential problem... all of which would cost them money, not make them any. In a dying game, that just isn't something they are going to waste money on.

And yes, the devs have said multiple times that a merge is not on the table, and the duplicate problem has been mentioned.

When the time comes for a merge of some kind, they'll just open the free transfer floodgate and wait a few weeks to see where people settle...
Then they'll just cull the servers that are left empty.

At least it's the reasonable thing to do But since we are talking of Turbine...

Now 65 is not that low... Europe managed to hold with 12/18 players ( peak time ) on a server for a good while before shutdown...

Couldn't they bring in a (competent) specialist for 3-6 months to plan, prep and oversee a merge?

I know, people like that don't work for TP or peanuts, but hey it's an idea - just putting it out there....

They have said a merge is not on the table, but never explained why and there could be several valid reasons
Duplicates in my opinion are not one of those reasons.
Creating a unique identifier for each character would be a simple script.  Combine two existing fields that creates a unique combination.
For eg. Where a name is shared, the toon gets renamed Tarzan-Thelanis and gets a free rename token in the mail.
If the outrage is unbearable, make the unique ID a combination of firstnam-surname, with surname defaulting to server name if you don't have the latter.

Hell if you wanted to get sexy with the scripting, give priority to recent or active toons over many year dormant ones.
You're not taking away dormant account's names, you're just letting your existing clients have first access to the toon name without surname.

Hell, allow more characters in names such as numerics and symbols.

I just can't believe they would let something this simple get in the way (because it is just a mask to say "too hard/expensive").
