Is that the one that's supposed to be Symphony of the Night redux?

Saw this last week. The 'spiritual successor' to the metroidvanias.

Been playing through Dawn of Sorrow on the DS ever since, farming items and souls to finish it out.

After SotN on PS1, my favourite is Order of Ecclesia on DS.  Smiley

I wonder if the big game houses are smart enough to be scared yet. If players asking for a quality game experience will put 5.5 million dollars in the hands of a good designer, what good designer would work for salary at a big house? And how can a big house compete with a game that's both a labor of love and well funded? He's going to take pride in his game and craft it lovingly, and people are going to buy it instead of an uninspired big studio commercial product that cost more to make, had more bugs, but had a lot less heart and soul.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

One thing that's annoying about Dawn of Sorrow is that one must play through about five times to get all the weapons and souls, including once on Hard Mode.

Big game studios won't be scared at all.  Because unfortunately such labors of love will be few and far between, and the big studios will be able to churn out their iterative yearly crap in between.

Ideas are as unlimited as our imagination, it's the system that's been engineered to harvest them that's stifling creativity.
