Ultimate Heart Farming Guide!
Aug 25th, 2015 at 2:37pm
Print Post
Hello everyone!
Heart Farming can be very taxing on the average DDO player. This guide will help make your experience of heart seed farming a little bit easier. Running these quests can get you your 42 hearts in about an hour and a half to two hours. Unfortunately this guide isn't for the F2P players out there, VIP or pack ownage required. These quests tend to go faster if you run them in Epic Normal! So here goes! Enjoy.

Gianthold Walkups = 10 hearts (25-30 minutes)
Trial by Fire
Maze of Madness
Foundation of Discord
Cry for Help
Feast or Famine

Lords of Dust = 2 hearts (6-8 minutes)

Eveningstar 1 Chain = 8 hearts (15-20 minutes)
Impossible Demands
Unquiet Graves
The Lost Thread
Battle for Eveningstar

Eveningstar 2 Chain = 8 hearts (15 minutes)
House of Rusted Blades
House of Broken Chains
House of Death Undone
The Portal Opens

Eveningstar 3 = 4 hearts (10 minutes)
Trial by Fury
The Deal and the Demon

Vault of Night Chain = 8 hearts (25-30 minutes)
Tharashk Arena
The Prisoner
The Jungle of Khyber
Haywire Foundry

Phiarlain Carnival = 2 hearts (5 minutes)
The Snitch

Total Time = 1 hour 36 minutes - 2 hours
Total Hearts = 42
Total Quests = 21

This guide is still in beta if you would. I'm sure there are faster quests to run and get hearts, and if there are please comment below! Thanks for your time and hope this guide helps!

Nice guide,

Except for the fact that most ppl playing since the Anniversary Card games has thousands upon thousands of heart seeds stored in every green bag that was available.

Fyi, Commendations of Valor stack up to 99,999.

YW.

Now if there was a way to farm LR hearts I would invest some serious gaming on that. Anyone knows where the best chances are for those? (Apart from the store or Turbine giving them out because they fucked everyones build up again.)

Bargain of Blood
Black Loch
Two-Toed Tobias
Ghost of a Chance

These are all fast and easy.

I'd also add Cabal in Gianthold.

I'd pay 100 seeds per + on a lesser heart

If you can roll it you can smoke it.  If you can carve it you can smoke with it.

As I understood it (may be old data now) there is no best place, they are just a small chance on a subtable that can occur in many places.

Small chance = 6 years of gaming on 10 toons all with several lives got me one lesser heart. And I even got a pale lavender ion stone from a habor reward and have a legit ring of spell storing.

Have to agree.  Been playing since the start and never had one drop for me, so they're not really farmable imho.

The Jester is your man for these. With only 10k gold coins you could wind up with as many as 2 or three!

I tried that, after the seccond 10k stack of gold coins I still got no heart but the whole instance was laggin out like hell. Then a GM booted me and banned that account for 14 days. He took all my gold coins from the shared bank, but left all the other goodies.

I liked how they enabled the multi-turnin option, but banned those that tested it for them.
Grin
I kept mine to small qtys like 100, which made it tedious but I didn't get banned.

Your timing is a bit "optimistic", but I like the list.  Good stuff.

I like quests you can get to quicker.  You will waste 4 minutes just getting to Thread or graves, each.

That's why the VoN's are nice.  And Lords of Dust, Spies or Snitch.

Don't Drink the Water is pretty fast on EN and conveniently located.

As fast as they are, I'd skip the two demonweb quests you listed for that reason.  You get a bad map and you can waste half the time it takes to run Spies just getting to the door.

If you still need Jibber's Blades or mythic helms you might as well put in daily runs on those. The drop% on EN is really low, but it's zero if you never get around to them.

You tried it during GM hours. Still, your luck sucked. On the plus side, I guess you now have more sunblades and dwarven throwers than your entire account can use.

So is it in the ballpark of "1 in 100" low or "1 in 10,000" low? I don't care about exact numbers, I just want the order of magnitude.

I already own the pack so I'm not wasting any money on it, but I don't find the quests all that much fun so I won't waste my time if it's in the 1 in 10,000 range.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Actually I'm just killing time instead of working so no harm done. Better than reading weak drama threads recently. It lasts only till I delete the client anyway.

Checked the wiki for some item names and the drop rates are:
- two-toed (ee/eh/en):
cursed blade: 3/2/1
coffin nail: 6/5/4
priest's torch: 6/5/4
- prove your crap:
iron mitts: 6/5/4
plundered hat: 3/2/1
splinter: 6/5/4
- ghost:
dev's reaping: 6/5/4
ruby of crushing wave: 3/2/1
admiral's tiller: 6/5/4
- old tomb:
mutt's blade: 6/5/4
buckler: 6/5/4
sapphire of crushing wave: 3/2/1
- precious cargo:
topaz of anthem: 3/2/1
goggles: 6/5/4
music box: 3/2/1
runearm: 6/5/4

As for explorer junk it's indeed 5% per chest for heroic (1 item) and 16% per chest in epic (4% per item).

Rodrak said it was 1 in 100.

Rodrak wrote on Mar 5th, 2015 at 6:32am:
The other quests in that adventure pack are all the same. As for Necro IV:
Temple of Vol (EE):
4% per item (Boots, Locus of Vol, Fanged Gloves, Emerald Gaze, Emerald Twilight, Death's Rampart)
3% for Mythic Emerald Gaze
EH is 3% per item and 2% for Mythic one, EN is 2% and 1%.
Same in the rest of the quests.

Vol is a quick and easy farm anyway. It is worthwhile to do it just for the xp and/or seeds.

Do people really farm seeds at cap ?
Usually get plenty comms for heart and a stack or two of damage or spellpower comm pots every life.
Comms really grow on trees unless you are doing EN Von3 763 x to cap.

Yes, I average about 20 seeds worth of commendations on the way to cap.  I spend a couple hours getting seeds so I have enough to get a heart for etr or itr.  Tokens for tr are not a problem though. Ever.

Thanks 5FS & Bear, at 1% I'll try a few and see if I get lucky, that is a useful item.
