No suprise really.
There won't be a good D&D game, because majority of todays gamers are retarded idiots uncapable of understanding D&D rules, and making game for niche audience is more risky financially than making game for idiots.

There was a thread about this game earlier, where I posted some comments on it. Not surprised it's crashed and burned.

I know cynicism is cool and all, but are we really allowed to proclaim failure on the first day or two?

A half-dozen boss Vaulties donated generously with real money to my classroom during a fundraiser in May 2015 to get poor kids books to read. I won't forget that. They know who they are, and they freaking rule.

Yup.

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

As buggy as it was, I really enjoyed the TOEE game that Troika/Atari released in 2003.  You had to patch the hell out of it, and get the Circle of 8 mod, but it was very good on D&D rules and feel.  Some people didn't like the wheel style action selector or that it was turn based, but I enjoyed it.  It felt closer to playing actual D&D than most other D&D branded games.

Yeah, toee was fucking awesome, but this game is over 10 years old.
It would take indie developer to make true D&D game, but such small companies wouldn't have enough money to pay for D&D licence, while most dev studios that are interested in  making as much money as possible are going to make some easy to understand shit for masses of brainless retards.

I saw this game and my friend was trying to get me to buy it. I don't know from the previews and videos I saw I didn't get a good feeling from it. Grim Dawn is ok if you like the whole D2 vibe.

Grim Dawn is fun. A single player successor to D2, in case POE wasn't your thing.

Cheesy

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

I just looked up this previous thread - for those who got it, did the list WeHaveLived turn out to be true?  I got Pillars of Eternity, but have SCL on my wishlist... if that list is true, it's gonna get removed.

Looking at reviews (no one I know bought the game), it would seem that the list is mostly intact.

Shitdicking skill trees are still there.
They throw way too much magic loot, potions, and consumables at you to even pretend to be a real try at a D&D game.
Still a win-as-long-as-you-keep-clicking ARPG slashfest.
Still has "skills" with "cooldowns".
No spellbooks, no spells really, just upgradables active skills.

I can't be arsed to go back and find what I posted in the other thread, but from what I've seen and heard of the game my recommendation to anyone who wants a D&D RPG remains to steer clear.

EDIT: It's apparently free 'til the 22nd on Steam if you really want to give it a go.

How were Fallout 1+2 D&D based?

Also, I'd add Pool of Radiance, Eye of the Beholder, and Nethack to that list.
