Nothing wrong with that man, my coworker spends 1k a year on espresso. As long as you are deriving enjoyment and can afford it, the money is well spent.

I haven't spent a dime on the game since I preordered the shadowfail ripoff.

Even though I have a stockpile of TP, elemental error was the final update that I bought.

A rough average of 96 votes (excluding the last 2 options and 6 votes) gives us:

138 dollars spent by the average vault reader on ddo in the last year.

13,315 dollars spent by the people polled.

I'm sure there are a few players that spend thousands on the game.

One of my guildies used to buy TP $500 at a time and buy hundreds of mem pots. Too bad for Turdbin he doesn't play much since they screwed over DC casting. Even if they eventually make it viable again, he's not likely to return to his old spending habit.

Breaking something and putting it back together isn't as good as not breaking it to begin with, it's not even close.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

If the mood strikes me I'm happy to pay for stuff, but like I said 'if the mood strikes'. That's where I think Turbine's team has fallen down, or lost the plot. If you make good content, it will drive revenue because people want to play.

That content can be quests, raids, class passes (ss), just so long as it invigorates the player base, that is renewable cash as opposed to one shots buys.

The epic Gianthold update was amazing and pumped up player hours and spending for quite a while, really great update. Thunderholm was pretty good as well, but the availability of duping the mats, plus the ridiculous grind required to do it legit kinda killed it way too soon.

Yeah, make it a reasonable grind and I'm happy to play along. I might even pay my way out of it occasionally. Make it a painfull grind and I'll dupe or boycott it out of spite. And I can be very spiteful if I feel somebody is trying to take advantage of me.

Those are the triple completionist that suck balls. Theres a few of them around.

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

Thunderholme isn't that bad of a grind.  A lot of players don't remember the grind for Green Steel.  Used to be you would get 1 large red scale maybe every 5-7 runs.  So you were looking at 25-30 runs per T3 GS item.  That's not that far off from 30 phlogs, if you choose phlogs on the end reward list.

What is different is:
1)  Duping reduced the number of players needing to run the content
2)  Raid Bypass timers caused the player base to progress at markedly different paces
3)  The player base as less tolerance for grind vs. 2007/2008
4)  There was no ER/ITR/TR grind, so there was less to do at cap besides grind out mats for GS.
