Moral fear, but I get your point man.  How much gear did you build prior to this? 

That really is the catch22, without it being available in Lamma the game population really really really needs people willing to do all front end grinding, and real cash spending to find out what the new crafting systems features are.

But at the same time those traiblazers take it in the ass when the devs decided it's unbalanced.

Someone should really ask Turbine: How about previewing the actual system on lamma so that you can spot any balance issues along with bugs and spare you most invested customers the grief of grinding/buying the new gear only to have it nerfed because you never tested it?

What's more, Heroic GS Lit II lightning strikes were 500-600 damage.  If a Legendary GS Add on proc is doing the same damage, there is something vastly wrong.

We were doing about 100-120 base damage, 300 on crits, and 500-600 on a proc when trash mobs had, max, around 2-3k HP.  Non-Raid bosses around 40-50k.

Now, Trash mobs have 15-20k HP and non-raid bosses have 200-300k and they want to give us add on procs that still do 500 damage(ish)?  That's crap.  6-7k might be too high, but 3k or so would have been appropriate and not OP.

A 600 damage proc is fine as long as the rate is significantly higher than the 1.5% lightning strike had.

Lightning Strike is 9.15 damage on average, so a legendary proc that does ~600 damage needs to proc 4x more often to compete with just the force damage aspect of Mortal Fear (36 average).

The steam proc is the only one that I know a rate for. It is 15% rate and ~86 damage per proc...so 12.9 average damage per attack which is complete garbage compared to MF. Steam was also garbage in heroic GS though so maybe it is intentionally gimpy?

You also have to remember that the very large acid procs were warlocks with mental honing and the full 60% crit damage from ts, and an additional 25% from t2 gs. The actual dot ticked for like 500-800 damage on a non crit. The overall damage should have been nerfed slightly too.

It did need to be nerfed. I thought a 1-2 second cooldown would be fine (since then it would only proc once on magic missiles/aoes too: good single target dps, but not doing a ton otherwise).

When my lantern ring and resonation procs for more than the t3 gs, you have a problem.

I hit for 20k+ with energy burst. 36k with greater ruin. 25k with ruin. The next time I see a lightning strike hit for 4k I might cry a little.

ANd melees whining about casters doing -8x as much damage!- seriously need to shut the fuck up. You can put spell power on a melee too. 400 is not hard to hit. You deal 2/3rds as much as an average caster. Since the acid LGS's days are no longer, I can say I had by far the most DPS on a Warlock/Wolf build. That includes the magic missile spammer. Let that sink in fuckers.

Agree with all of this.  That they needed to make some changes, I can understand.  But the changes we got are a massive over correction.
