	Your working copy is actually with a fair amount. Before they dug up that landful(and probably even still) copies of ET were so firggin rare they were collectors items

	A year and a half ago I got a free T-shirt at a gaming convention for being able to play and beat ET for the 2600. I was the only one that was able to that weekend AFAIK.

	Actually looks pretty impressive by Atari standards see nowadays games can ship with WAAAAAY more bugs than that, never get fixed, and still go on making money and franchises COUGHassassinscreedunityCOUGH. Hard to imagine one bad game that doesn't even look THAT bad causing so much damage.

	Well the people that have actually researched the economics of it are split into 2 camps. Either they believe that ET didn't have as much effect on the crash as it is believed to, or the rest think that it was overly complex for the target audience "OMG I have to read the manual?" and the huge number of returns just was the log that broke the camel's back.

	I think I read that article not too long ago. The game really isn't as bad as anyone makes it out to be. It's playable, albeit repetitive; it gets a horrible rep because of its unique place in history and being metonymous for the whole video game crash thing--a claim which can be argued either way. There are many, many worse games out there. Big Rigs, anything CDI, Hong Kong 97, Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game, or pretty much anything on your "appstore" or whatever you wanna call it. And DDO. /s
