i only play once a month these days, so tired of all the broken ass shit
anyhow, never was a good build optimizer... so long story short, was going to knock out a couple wizzy lifes and instead of rolling the old PaleTrapper stand by... i though why not roll up a PaleMechanic (crossbow) with trap skills...
is this viable?

For heroics? Anything's viable. For epics? Reroll.

I've recently used a 1 Artificer / 9 Warlock / 10 Wizard to pick up wiz PL. I've used repeaters until level 12, then mostly enlightened spirit bursting/blasting/shining thru. easy life. I am sure you could fit in undead form if you desired.

If you're going to do this, I would add 2 levels of artificer for runearms. The downside to using a crossbow is that it takes up both weapon slots unless you can use runearms. Runearms add a little damage and make it easy to slot your desired spellpower. Summoning 1k bolts on demand is a nice bonus.
So maybe 12/6/2 wizard/rog/arti? Won't be amazing in epics but should do just fine in heroics.
AP distribution will be tight. You want 35 minimum in Mechanic for the T5s. I assume 21 minimum in Pale Master for Wraith form. Minimum of 11 for Assassin's Trick core. More likely 23 for Assassin's Trick core and Killer. That leaves 1 point left over. If human, use that point on Damage Boost for dual boost burst capability.

Add Gnome and maybe a 7th rogue level.

Thinking of running a flavor 12wiz/6lock/2rogue or 12wiz/8lock or 14wiz/6lock or something like that for some wizzy PL.

He specified a Pale Master xbow build. You have to have 12 wizard for Shroud of the Wraith (3rd core). I suppose it could be done with Vampire Form but Wraith Form is probably better than one more level of rogue.

Vamp form is pretty sucky with the triple light damage. First two forms are pretty much not worth toggling on.

Yes, I should have said or instead of and.
Wraith is nice if you are spending time in melee range and along with gnome is pretty much the way to go if you want to use light repeaters.
Vampire form with 19-20 neg level vorpals on a gxbow should be pretty awesome though. Shouldn't really be any problems with new loot gen light resistance + insightful light resistance at low level.
