Cannith deader than ever after the update

In 9 years I have never seen Cannith so empty - even after the botched data centre move...

This update was suposed to breath some life into this game but seems to have done quite the opposite...

What are the other servers like?

Khyber seems decent. I even saw a few old names back in the past few days.

Sarlona is pretty full. Reaper is being played, people are still figuring it out but it encourages team play a whole lot.

Khyber has been busier than before the update.  I've seen a few more LFM's up.  Channels have more people on.  I wouldn't say it is this massive change.  But it's 10% or 20% more busy.  It is certainly not less busy.

I had a 7 skull Trial By Fire LFM up for 35 minutes not a single bite....guess it is Cannith living up to its reputation as the Epic hard server I guess :/

Everyone seems to be doing 1 skull stuff...that is not really exciting nor a challenge...as it is zerged in the same speed as EE...the only other people I know of running top end stuff on Cannith are Gods...but mostly guild runs...and one other guy...but he does stuff solo or with his 2 or 3 buddies...

LFM for top tier content in Cannith seems like a no-go...

Why dont you saw your arm off, youll get plenty of challenge out of that.
Also setting yourself on fire would make it very hard for you to keep living.

I haven't actually logged in since shortly after the update. I think Reaper may have finally done it for me, may have killed the game. Well, its not reaper itself, that is a cool new concept; its that the rewards are... more randomness. Just so tired of everything be about rangen.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

My biggest problem with reaper is the 80 million fucking bugs that came along with it.  To the surprise of no one, but still...  They broke basic shit that affects *every* quest and it's pissing me off.

Public Service Announcement: your servers are not dead; if you can't find groups, it means you suck and/or nobody likes you.

I ran 4 skull Slavers yesterday, and it was a pug. Albeit  pug with very good players in it.  Some Gods, A HP, me, and one more. Seen tons of lfm's up on Cannith.  Most people running the harder stuff normally don't put lfm's up, except if needing to fill one last spot.

So far I've been lucky enough to not be killed by save or die effects. Use deathward and target the casters first.

I have to wonder though, was deathblock's "bug" unintentional? After all Damage Boost was WAI before it's nerf and was slated for alteration without any warning or discussion. It's too bad Sev didn't tell BEK to ask about it's overperformance in the game so we'd know one way or the other.

Cannith doesn't seem any more or less active than usual.

Plenty of people run in static groups or just solo.

A lot of people, myself included, are running R1 because fuck "challenge", the rewards are pointless and 120% XP first run.

YMMV.

You can get around 300-400 xp per 5 skull on level 2 quests.  If you blaze through them at level 3.  Most of those quests are 5 minutes.  That is better than spending 120 minutes and 15-20 deaths for 3k reaper XP on 10 skull TS.  (And you only get that first time xp once).

I don't get the doing reaper for xp mentality some people seem to be talking about. Reaper xp? sure, but 120% for first time reaper run? why bother when there are so many options for cheap, easy and fact xp.

I've noticed a lot of players only grouping in guild runs and not PUG.  I've posted a few LFMs for lower level (1-3) reaper, but only get 1 or 2 other players.

Sucks for someone like me in a small guild, but what are you gonna do?  Oh that's right, there's this new character transfer thing....

If experienced players are trying to get shit done and you have known players you don't risk the unknown variables of pugs in Reaper where it's harder to get consistent results.

The people who complained about it segregating the players were right, but SSG had to have known and done the math and came up with a good enough result to say fuck it.

A month or two ago when Reaper hit Lama, our guild had a lively discussion about it.  I predicted that it would be exciting for most at first but in the end would only serve to further divide the haves from the have nots in DDO.

Power gamers will be fine.  They'll just Reaper with their powergamer friends/guilds or solo missions on low to mid skull Reaper.

Casuals on the other hand won't be welcomed into the high-skull Reaper runs because they'd just be a handicap.   They generally won't have the gear, past lives and min/max'd builds to solo EE/LE/low skull Reaper.  They might normally be fine just running non-Reaper like they have in the past, but now the pool of powergamers that have helped/carried them through EE/LE will be MIA because they're busy running Reaper.  This will lead to increased wait times for LFMs to fill and as a result, increased boredom and frustration with the game.

There have already been posts along these lines, both here and on the official forums.  On Ghallanda at least, non-powergamers noticeably outnumber the hardcore players.  Ignoring the larger customer demographic and increasing their unhappiness with the game is generally not a good long-term plan for the health of your product, especially when marketing initiatives and new, long-term customers are virtually non-existent.
